Face Covering Update: Statewide Mandate for Masks
All people age 5 and older in the state of Oregon are required to wear a mask in all indoor public spaces, regardless of vaccination status, per an order issued by Governor Kate Brown. Based on this and other updated recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control, Oregon Health Authority, and Multnomah County Public Health, face coverings are now required for all individuals inside University of Portland buildings, regardless of vaccination status. Face coverings are not required in private office space, private laboratories, and dorm rooms. They’re also not required in outdoor spaces on campus, although it is recommended for those who are unvaccinated, and is encouraged for anyone who feels more comfortable wearing a mask. Those who have received an exemption from the University’s vaccination requirement must adhere to the guidance they received in connection with their exemption. Please read the full face-covering policy for more details. The University will revisit this policy before September 17, taking into account the latest county, state, and federal guidelines and recommendations.
