Favorite program on Classical KC:
I have to be biased and say the Kansas City Local Feature, which I host! I love getting to talk with local musicians and ensembles and learn more about what makes Kansas City's music scene so special.
Favorite composer:
As a harpist I love the way Claude Debussy writes for the instrument and his music holds a special place in my heart, but Caroline Shaw is my current favorite composer.
What excites you about classical music?
How it is inherently political and a product of its time. What was avant-garde at one point is now seen as standard, and it's exciting to see what cutting edge compositions will take this genre into the future.
What recording or piece of music would you bring to a dinner party to introduce guests to classical music?
I own a vinyl of Neville Marriner conducting the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields in works by Ralph Vaughan Williams and I actually have played that at dinner parties for guests! Perfectly pastoral and picturesque.
