Late last year I was invited to join our Geology Field Study students for their trip to Cyprus in the spring of 2019. Having just returned from that trip, I have to say that it was an incredible experience for our students, and for myself.
Matthew Robert Fleming (left) and Thomas Sutter were recognized as CASL's two Chancellor's Medallion recipients during the university's commencement ceremony on April 28. Each commencement, faculty choose Chancellor's Medallion recipients based on academic records, quality of character, vitality, intellect and integrity. Jacquelene Hollier-Jackson was the student speaker at the ceremony.
The Board of Regents, at their meeting on May 16, approved promotions and tenure for eight CASL faculty members.
CASL faculty, students and alumni are involved in a variety of
classes, research, activities and philanthropy,
and are making an impact locally, regionally and nationally.
Your gifts to CASL support student success during and after their time at UM-Dearborn. With your help, CASL is able to offer students invaluable experiences in the classroom, out in the field, and around the world. Thank you for being an everyday hero for CASL students!
Gifts to the CASL Annual Fund were used this year to support student participation in field study experiences such as the recent Geology Field Study trip to Cyprus. Read Dean Hershock's May blog post for an example of how gifts to the CASL Annual Fund are transforming student lives, and his first hand experience in observing the incredible impact of these gifts on students.
CASL is holding an Academic Showcase for potential students on Friday, May 31 ... and we need some help from our alumni.
Part of the program will include an afternoon panel of alums, talking about life as a CASL graduate ... work experiences, volunteering at UM-Dearborn, advice for an incoming student.
