Academic Technology Newsletter
November 2023
As the Thanksgiving holiday approaches, we would like to share our appreciation to faculty for your participation and support throughout another innovative year in Academic Technology!
Did you know that you can easily review the Alternative Testing Requirements for your students seeking accommodations? The Universal Design Center (UDC) has conveniently compiled links and instructions within the Student Access and Accommodation System (SAAS) to make this process seamless for you.
As we approach the semester's end, we're excited to share valuable tutorials on how to post grades, change grades, and more in the CSUN Portal.
Save the date for our upcoming "Demystifying AI" Faculty Coffee Hour on Wednesday, December 6th, from 12 to 1 pm in room UL30. Join us for a virtual conversation with a Turnitin AI representative to explore their AI Detection tool. Plus, coffee is on us!
In a recent study published by Inside Higher Ed, it was found that students are enthusiastically adopting Generative AI at a faster rate than faculty, showcasing their eagerness to embrace this cutting-edge tool. As educators, your exploration of this technology reflects your commitment to staying at the forefront of educational innovation.
If you’re looking for a winter program to work on your online, hybrid, or technology-enhanced spring 2024 course, apply for Faculty Development's Winter eLearning Institute. This program uses the latest version of the CSU Quality Learning and Teaching (QLT) Framework which places a higher emphasis on equity-minded teaching, and includes many new examples from CSUN Faculty. After a Zoom orientation session, participants work at their own pace to build one of their courses, complete a self-paced review of their course, and receive one-on-one faculty mentoring.
