Organization of Educational Historians Virtual Conference
Doctoral students and faculty from Educational Leadership presented research online this past Friday and Saturday (Sept 27-28) at this year’s virtual meeting of the Organization of Educational Historians.

| Alumna Speaks to Future Educators
Bearkat alumna Ms. Hannah Smith made a special appearance in Drs. Coyne and Valenzuela’s Methods courses to offer valuable guidance to yearlong clinical teaching candidates. Drawing from her extensive teaching experience and her current role as an instructional coach at Samuel Walker Houston Elementary in Huntsville ISD, Ms. Smith provided practical insights and advice, inspiring the next generation of educators.

Professor Discusses MPSS Innovations at ATD Houston
Dr. Yao Huang recently had the opportunity to present about Mobile Performance Support Systems (MPSS) at Association for Talent Development Houston's Chapter. Dr. Huang helped identify the benefits of MPSS tools and potential implementations of MPSS in the workforce from her 2023 ATD Dissertation research.

| Professor Receives SSMA Outstanding Dissertation Award.
Dr. Melissa Donham recently was selected as the recipient of the SSMA Dissertation Award from the School Science and Mathematics Association! The SSMA Dissertation Award is given annually to honor exceptional dissertations that contribute significantly to the advancement of science and/or mathematics education. Awardees receive a one year membership to SSMA, a scholarship, a convention fee waiver to the annual SSMA Convention where the award will be presented, and an invitation to present a session at the 2025 Annual Convention about their dissertation.

Area 6 Special Olympics Texas Bocce Tournament
Sam Houston Council for Exceptional Children hosted the Area 6 Special Olympics Texas Bocce Tournament at Intramural Field 2 on September 28. Approximately 76 SHSU students volunteered to officiate games and cheer on the 250 athletes in attendance.
