Dear Parents and Alumni of Woodberry Forest School and Episcopal High School,
As heads of Episcopal and Woodberry, we write to enlist your help as we plan for the EHS vs. WFS football contest on November 11, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Woodberry. This will be the 122nd playing of The Game, one of the oldest high school football rivalries in the nation. It is always a special occasion that generates great memories and reminds us all that our two schools share a responsibility to nurture a fierce and friendly rivalry for future generations of the Maroon and Tigers.
Due to the limited amount of space in which to park vehicles and the increased number of guests at The Game and events surrounding it, we will not be able to accommodate the construction of tents of any size on school property. We will set aside space in both parking areas for class tailgates. Please view this map for information about designated tailgate locations and parking. Gates will open for tailgating at 10:30 a.m. The only parking spaces that will be reserved will be to accommodate individuals needing accessible parking spots.
As always, we expect that attendees will refrain from the use of alcohol on the Woodberry campus before, during, and after The Game. We will address our respective students during the week before The Game, emphasizing, above all, the importance of their personal responsibility and safety. We will also remind them to behave appropriately off campus if they are taking a weekend leave following The Game, keeping in mind the laws governing alcohol use and the high standards our schools have for student conduct on and off campus.
Woodberry and Episcopal enjoy a special relationship marked by history, tradition, rivalry, and friendship. As heads of school, we have the greatest respect for each other and for our two schools. It is very important that we work together to preserve the intent and spirit of The Game so that we might enjoy the second Saturday in November for years to come.
