Passphrases, a Different Kind of Password

Importance of Creating an Effective Passphrase

What is a Passphrase?

A passphrase is a string of words and symbols that form a phrase. Passphrases function as passwords but are much less easier to hack than a typical password.
An example of a passphrase might be: What is a Seawolf?
(tip: don't use this, it is just an example. Come up with your own passphrases!)

This passphrase contains uppercase characters, lowercase characters, and symbols (spaces are considered symbols).

Tips On Using Passphrases Securely

  • Use a different passphrase for each of your accounts.
  • Never share your passphrases with anyone, including, friends, family, significant others, or co-workers.
  • Do not use commonly known phrases such as "What is a Seawolf?". Passphrases should be easy for you to remember, but difficult for others to guess.
