Institutional Equity Exchange |
Building Community Through Awareness and Action |

|
A Note from Vice President Kimberly Hewitt |
We are excited to share the first issue of the Institutional Equity Exchange which includes information about OIE activities across Duke University and Health System. OIE plays a dynamic and multifaceted role in our community at Duke. Focused on our mission and engaging creativity, we are committed to offering useful and relevant resources to support all aspects of research, teaching, scholarship and work.
This issue we will feature new leaders, institutional efforts and events and educational offerings from the office. During this time where we are seeing many challenges and opportunities in higher education, it is encouraging to explore the various activities that contribute to an inclusive and welcoming environment here at Duke!

Duke University prohibits discrimination and harassment based upon protected characteristics in all of its programs and activities. The Inclusive Excellence principles communicate Duke’s longstanding efforts to create a learning and working environment rooted in a shared commitment to excellence.
“Our hope is that the principles affirm and clarify existing policies and guidelines, establish new guidelines where necessary, and reflect both our legal obligations and the values of respect, trust, inclusion, discovery, and excellence that guide our institution.”
- Kimberly Hewitt
