Duke Basketball Tailgate

The Office of Student Veterans and the Duke Armed Forces Association are planning a tailgate before the Duke-Virginia Tech basketball game being played at Cameron Indoor Stadium on Saturday, February 25th, 2023. More details upcoming!

Sporting Events - Sensory Considerations

With the Duke-UNC basketball game occurring this weekend, the office wanted to make sure students know resources exist to make the game safe, enjoyable, and accessible for all.
The student section in popular basketball games can be especially, but for some extremely, hot, confined, and loud. Our office wants to make sure that students who might struggle with this, to include but not limited to those with PTS(D), know ahead of time and can plan accordingly.
The Cameron Indoor Stadium Quiet Room is located in Room 114, just around the corner from the Crazies Wall. It is located just off the court, in the corner between sections 17 and 20.
You can find resources and accommodations for Cameron Indoor Stadium here.
These resources include:
·      Sensory bags
·      Quiet Room, and
·      Seating accommodations through Duke Disability Management

Veterans Council Meeting Interest

Our graduate assistant Nic will be convening a Student Veteran Council this semester to connect with the student veterans from across campus. We will discuss past and future veterans events, various initiatives in the Office of Student Veterans and student veteran organizations, and ways in which student veteran organizations can better engage with and serve the community. This meeting is open to all interested military-affiliated students. The Office of Student Veterans plans to hold the council meeting over Zoom.
Time and date to be determined! Stay tuned.
For any questions or more information, please email Nic at nicholas.harrelson@duke.edu.
