Ekklesia and Me
Students in Ms. Altieri's Modern Church classes recently applied what they're learning in a really creative way, and we want to share their projects with you!
"Ekklesia" is the Greek word for "church." Students were asked to answer the following questions in the form of a video: In your everyday experiences, how do you and your friends, neighbors, or families experience Ekklesia in the Greek sense? Why is this important to see and share?
View their creations in the playlist linked above, and click here to learn more about Ekklesia and what our students have been learning in class. We appreciate them generously sharing their talents and creations with us!

congratulations, elizabeth parkins '25!Congratulations to Elizabeth Parkins '25, who recently became one of 11 ambassadors for the Hamilton County Bicentennial! The purpose of the Bicentennial Ambassador program is to engage high school students by using the past 200 years to inform the future. Those chosen expressed a genuine interest in history and how communities function.
“I'm grateful to have been named an Ambassador because it means that I can represent Hamilton County and share my love of learning and history with others," Elizabeth shared.

walk a mile in a refugee's shoes
The Walk a Mile in a Refugee's Shoes event is an hour-long simulation created to inform participants of the experiences of displaced peoples in refugee camps all over the world in the first-person narrative. Each attendee receives information regarding the details of a refugee's life and is expected to "walk a mile" (figuratively speaking) in the role of that refugee as they pass through stations of the vetting and resettlement process. Ultimately, the goal is to illustrate the hopes, challenges, dreams, and disappointments that thousands of refugees experience on a daily basis for years on end.
Register today and join us for this deeply meaningful experience that is sure to transform the way you see and connect with your neighbors both here in Indianapolis and around the world.

brooke lahr memorial scholarship
Colleen Lahr, a guest Spanish teacher who is covering for Sra. Agudelo-McNealy, would like to share a mission scholarship in memory of her daughter with Brebeuf students. The Brooke Nichole Lahr Scholarship is an opportunity for young adults to find their own calling in mission work. The scholarship is designed to help finance young adults' first international mission work experience. The hope is that even though Brooke is no longer able to perform her work in this world, her efforts can continue through the hands of others who feel the calling but have never served as part of an international mission.
For more information and to access the application, please click here.
