Focused postpartum care can save mothers around the globe. Program developer Joyce Adams, associate professor and global maternal research lead, focuses on maternal health disparities that lead to mortality, with a focus on postpartum health.

Postpartum care for Indiana mothers

Adams and the Eck Institute for Global Health are partnering with Beacon Health System to pilot a new, first-of-its-kind postpartum care model in the South Bend–Elkhart community.

One year later, Inauguration Build a ‘dream come true’ for Habitat families

Last September, President Rev. Robert A. Dowd, C.S.C., kicked off Inauguration Build 2024 with Habitat for Humanity of St. Joseph County. One year later, work on the project is finally complete, offering shelter and so much more to five local families.

The Collaborative Recycling Expansion Team receives Presidential Team Irish Award

Throughout the past year, Building Services and Sustainability partnered to strengthen campus recycling programs. Their work has produced impressive results: a 46 percent increase in everyday recycling on campus and a 66 percent increase in recycling per football game from 2023 to 2024.

For Captain Carmona, the most rewarding part of her work isn’t found in titles, but in relationships. Over the years, she’s had countless encounters with students and staff who remembered her long after she helped them.
