CORNUCOPIA AUCTION AND SOCIAL, TOMORROW - JOIN THE FUN!

Plan for a fun night out with parents and friends of the school, and join us on tomorrow evening! From 5-9 PM you’ll marvel at a transformed recital hall, taste savory delicacies and sweet desserts, as well as a variety of libations provided by Provisions in Northampton. Joining Sean Glennon (P22) as a celebrity guest auctioneer will be alumna Sarah Hartshorne ’05, comedian, actor, activist – and a contestant on America’s Next Top Model!

This community event is a great time to connect with families and friends of The Academy. Bid on beautiful, practical and unusual items offered at auction by generous donors in our broad community – treat yourself or give as gifts. Highlights include Red Sox tickets (Go Sox!), fantastic ceramics, glass, jewelry, and fiber art, amazing wall art, a private wine tasting by Provisions, gift certificates for area restaurants and businesses, the bounty from local farms, and more.

All proceeds support our school’s programs and financial aid, so bid often and bid generously!

Tickets will be available at the door, or online until 5 PM today. Childcare (including pizza and activities) is available for potty-trained children, and those under 5 must be pre-registered.

CORNUCOPIA AUCTION ITEMS AVAILABLE FOR PROXY BIDDING

Do you have friends or family members who would love to join in the fun of our auction but can't make it in person? Select items are now available to view and consider, and a proxy bid form is live online.

Encourage far-away supporters of our school to take a look at some of the amazing offerings linked here to the bid form. We'll arrange for a volunteer to bid on their behalf, with full completion of the form.

Parent gifts and pledges to the 2018-2019 Annual Fund are coming in, and each day we move toward our goal of 100% participation. With the auction coming up tomorrow, we want to remind you that your pledged donation is not due until the end of the fiscal year, June 30, 2019. Please let us know your gift intentions by completing this form and returning it to us, or by visiting our secure donation page to make a pledge or a gift – one time or recurring - online.

SEEKING TEAMS FOR THE 13th ANNUAL MARY LYON SPELLING BEE

Neale Gay is looking to put together a faculty team, an APC team, and a student team for the spelling bee. The event takes place at Mohawk Trail Regional High School on November 15 (6:30 PM). Teams need to be comprised of no more than three participants. It would be great to have a robust Academy representation!  Team-themed costumes are encouraged! Please contact Mr. Gay ASAP if you'd like to put together a team.

Classroom Close-up

Students in Spanish V had a goodbye ceremony, reading favorite quotes from the reader that they've used for over a year (El cuento hispánico) then burning the paper, symbolizing that although the flame may not endure, our fond memories and knowledge will. In addition by channeling our "inner gaucho", we tried our hand at wielding the Argentine herders' "bolas" on the basketball court and some were successful at wrapping the bolas around the pole.

Cupcake Challenge Results

The 3rd annual Cupcake Challenge results are in! Grand Prize winning teams are Spicy Mamis aka The Female Supremacists and Shinigami Love Apples. The Judges Award was presented to Small and Tall Will Beat Y'all. Great job everyone!

On Tuesday, they lost their RVAL quarterfinal game to Hartsbrook 4-2 behind goals from Raymond M and Nico V. Tucker ZA and Bennet B had strong games, while Alex T played tough in goal with five great saves.

On Tuesday, the Girls' Varsity Soccer team played against Putney in an intense  RVAL quarterfinal battle. After being down 4-0 at half, the girls, the girls took the field in the second half with a hunger to win and played their hearts out. This attitude and desire resulted in four consecutive goals by Chessie RC, Ruby C and two by Calla J. Elaina GB was instrumental in several of the goals with outstanding assists and her ability to bring the ball up the field and cross the ball to the front of the goal. Izzy B also had outstanding assists and offensive plays. A special thank you to Lila G for stepping up to play keeper in her first day ever playing as goalie, and she had some truly incredible saves. In the end, Putney came out with a 6-4 win, but Charlemont left everything on the field. It was a great season for the Girls' Varsity Soccer team!
