Sign up for the 2025 Energy Week Energy Case Competition!

Are you ready to put your problem-solving skills to the test? The UT Energy Week Interdisciplinary Energy Case Competition invites UT Austin graduate students from all disciplines to collaborate, innovate and develop real-world solutions to pressing challenges in the energy sector.

This year’s challenge focuses on Energy Resilience in Texas, requiring teams to develop actionable strategies that balance technology, policy and market considerations. Participants will work in interdisciplinary teams, receive mentorship from industry professionals and present their solutions to a panel of experts—all in a high-energy, fast-paced format!

How It Works:

Create a team of 3-5 graduate students from at least 3 different disciplines.
Fill out an application for your team to participate!
Don’t have a team and want to have the chance to be placed in a team? Apply as an individual for a chance to be included in a team.
Teams will receive the case challenge at the kickoff breakfast.
Develop and submit your solution within 4 hours, and then present to a panel of expert judges.
Winning team receives $500 at the evening Energy Week reception and will celebrate and connect with industry professionals.

McKinsey Austin invites you into our office to network and hear from McKinsey consultants with advanced professional degrees (APD) about their journeys.

APD candidates are those working toward the following degrees: PhD (including postdocs), MD (including medical interns, residents, and fellows), JD, PharmD, etc. Non-MBA Master candidates must have at least four years in between the completion of their undergraduate degree and graduate degree to be qualified for the full-time associate position.

*McKinsey Insight 2025 will take place on May 14-15, and you can apply now through April 3.

McKinsey Insight is designed for APD students interested in learning more about McKinsey and what to expect in a consultant role.

Graduate students and postdocs can also sign up for 1:1 coffee chats at the Starbucks in WCP on Thursday, March 27 from 2-5 p.m.
