Dinner & Dialogue Changed to Virtual |
Due to the weather, we will be hosting this event virtually via Zoom from 5:00-6:30pm. Grab a drink and cozy up at home to join us for Dr. Whitlock's presentation on her work surrounding place-based education! Dr. Annie Whitlock is a GVSU history/social studies faculty and the current President of the Michigan Council for the Social Studies. She has an extensive background in place-based work and is the author of Place-Based Social Studies Education: Learning from Flint, Michigan and Hollywood or History? An Inquiry-Based Approach to Using The Simpsons to Teach Social Studies.
Following her presentation, we will have time for a large group discussion and a Q&A about the importance of place-based education in today's classroom culture and as a tool to enhance student engagement.
We appreciate you taking the time to join us despite the change of plans and we hope you all stay safe today!
The Zoom link is below; no RSVP needed. Please log on at 5pm.
