   Eden Properties Newsletter

We are always trying to make things better and I think we have…with that said,
Fatima has taken over the helm of the Eden House in Key West. She is doing a tremendous job! It's no wonder the guests love her and so do Elizabeth and I. She is making improvements and has several projects in the works, so watch for the upgrades and we'll keep you posted.
Every year on the Friday of Fantasy Fest, the Masquerade March (fondly referred to as the Locals Parade) passes the Eden House, and we are always there to do our part for the partiers. We need your help with these good deeds (jell-o shots)! Get decked out in your Fantasy Fest-best and help Fatima and staff keep those paraders in high spirits with thousands of Jello shots!  As you know we will be in the street passing out these cups of joy…join us.
So whether it's Jello shots for the thirsty parade participants, taking photos of the creative, weird, or barely-there costumes, or just generally participating in the Fest-ing, the Eden House is a good place to post up Friday evening. The parade begins at Key West Cemetary (Frances St. Entrance) at 5:30pm passing by Eden House shortly thereafter.

For more information about participating email Fatima at fatima@edenhouse.com

Fall Into Asheville

Hey there bear! We got some new neighbors, well, not exactly new. They’ve been hanging around for about a year and a half now. A momma and her two yearlings. It's been fun watching them grow. I think they finally went their separate ways recently. Pretty sure I saw one of the yearlings fall into the fountain.
I took a trip to Mount Gilead Farm in Leicester, NC. It’s a 50-acre family-owned and operated joint just a short drive from Princess Anne. Here’s a pic of Babushka with Lamb Chops (don’t worry, it’s just his name, not what he will turn into!). We were told she’s an animal whisperer. Robertino, one of the sons, took us through a maze of goats and chickens while telling us how they came to own the farm. Then the family fed us a wonderful brunch filled with local ingredients and the farms house-made cheeses!
Olga has some new prints out, and we are getting ready to add some of them around The Princess Anne. Poke around her website. olgadorenko.com. That is her stuff that adds so much color and joy to the place. Have you checked out the Woolworths downtown? I guarantee you won’t walk out of there without purchasing something.

 Harvest Time In California
Chris has taken our grapes totally organic...hot damn!!! We’ve personally never used Roundup but everything we use now is natural on the farm. We are starting our 2019 harvest as we speak. It should be a good one and we know the quality of the grapes is only getting better. The Cows are all fat and sassy, we had our newest baby Andy Cohen join us a few months back and she is doing just fine. Yes – she (we pre-named her). Ryan is really making the B&B his own. He has given it that Ryan touch that he bestowed upon the Eden House in Key West for ten years and it is really working. Elizabeth has quite a few fires in the iron we will be announcing early next year! That’s Elizabeth…cart before the horse.
Things to do while visiting us out West.
Come and check out "bee-utiful" downtown Paso during a festival with a lot of "buzz"! There will be spelling bees, quilting bees, honey bees and pumpkin bees. Pumpkins from all around the world! On a gorgeous day in "El Paso de Robles" there is no other place you'd rather "bee”.  I love pumpkin.
One of Mike's favorite events! Now in its 11th year, the Cambria Scarecrow Festival has grown into a community-wide event with hundreds of scarecrows bowling, bathing, painting, pedaling, fishing and flying through Cambria. The festival is happening throughout the month of October so get out and see what the residents of Cambria have scared up for you!  Cambria is just south of the Hearst Castle is you’re so inclined.
This is great for anyone who loves fall, kids included. Activities range from a chili cook-off, giant pumpkin weigh-off, face painting, pie-eating contest and more. If you show up you will for certain find Elizabeth and Ryan at the face painting booth.

Charity Spotlight

We have found a charity that has been around for many years but new to us Planting Peace.

Aaron Jackson started Planting Peace to “help to spread peace in a hurting world”. The projects include a deworming campaign, a network of orphanages and safe havens in developing countries, LGBTQ rights advocacy, Equality House and Transgender House, and rainforest conservation efforts in the Amazon. This charity just keeps growing and is definitely one to support.
Music and General Musings
A few names I know some here will really enjoy.
Nick Waterhouse - I really enjoy his new self titled CD pictured here. Check it out if you can get your hands on it.
John Lurie - The Lounge Lizards, Marvin Pontiac, John Lurie  Orchestra – all have my stamp of approval.
I touched on CBD a few months back. But recently I have been talking to many people about the multiple benefits. One thing I thought I would mention, I recommend always looking for organic. People would be very surprised to see what is used on a non-organic CBD. The higher the concentration the better. Never purchase oil with PHTHALATE… bad stuff. I prefer the non-flavored CBD oil but it can have an interesting taste so many prefer some added flavor. Always put it under your tongue for at least 30 seconds...then wash it down quickly with water. A good friend in California has some new CBD products out (made from hemp) and they are top-shelf. Check them out if you’re in the Central Coast area and have them shipped to you. Cheers.

Thanks for reading,
Mike, Elizabeth, Jocelyn, Fatima, Sam, Ryan & staff
