Tulsa Symphony Orchestra at TU features trailblazing conductor
The guest conductor for the David B. Waters collaboration between Tulsa Symphony Orchestra (TSO) and The University of Tulsa will be the trailblazing Jeri Lynne Johnson, the first Black woman to win an international conducting prize in 2005 when she was awarded the Taki Alsop Conducting Fellowship. The concert with the TSO Chamber Orchestra will be at TU’s Lorton Performance Center Sunday, April 7, at 3 p.m.

| TU alumnus interviews real-world assassins for novel
William J. Carl (BA ’70) is a Greek scholar, a former pastor, and served as a U.S. Senate guest chaplain. He wrote eight successful nonfiction books about religion and traveled the world lecturing at prestigious schools. Now, he has added writing an international espionage thriller to his list accomplishments with “Assassin’s Manuscript.”

Recent Arts & Sciences faculty publications
In addition to their teaching duties, faculty members across the Kendall College of Arts & Sciences have been hard at work researching and publishing. | TURC students curate exhibition of artworks by TU alumnus
When artist Daniel Lang (BFA ’52) passed away in 2013, he left a collection of his artwork to The University of Tulsa. In 2021, Associate Professor of Art History Maria Maurer and several Tulsa Undergraduate Research Challenge students began to catalog and preserve them with an eye toward eventually curating an exhibition. Three years later, “Remembering Daniel Lang” became a reality.
