CORONAVIRUS UPDATES
At this time, the Oregon Health Authority is reporting that no cases of COVID-19 have been identified in Lane County.
The University of Oregon remains open and operating under a normal schedule, including business functions, libraries, research activities, office hours, and other support operations.
President Schill announced yesterday a number of operational changes effective Sunday, March 15 to increase social distancing to limit the spread of COVID-19.
Finals and Classes
No final exams will be offered in-person for winter term. Faculty will determine how to complete courses and assign final grades, including how any final exams will be administered remotely, and will communicate instructions directly with students in their courses.
Classes today, March 12 and tomorrow, March 13 will continue as scheduled, except those that exceed the governor’s restrictions on public gatherings of over 250 people. Seven classes meeting today and tomorrow meet that threshold and have been canceled.
For the first three weeks of the spring term, starting March 30, all classes will be delivered remotely.
Provost Patrick Phillips has communicated guidance and resources to faculty to determine plans to finish winter term and begin spring classes remotely. Instructors will communicate with students directly on plans for spring term courses.
Limited campus dining options will be open during spring break and dining facilities will return to normal availability for spring term.
Spring break hours for campus programs and services are published on the Student Life website and will be updated as more information comes in.
Travel and Events
The state of Oregon is mandating cancellation of events and gatherings of more than 250 people for four weeks (through April 8, 2020). Effective Sunday, March 15, the UO is canceling on campus nonessential events and gatherings of more than 50 until further notice. Events on campus with fewer than 50 participants can continue as planned.
If you have questions about a specific event, please contact the event organizer. Organizers may request a waiver for events of 50 to 249.
All nonessential university travel, both domestic and international, is suspended indefinitely.
