NOVEMBER VOLUNTEERING
Giving back to our community!
Salutations, Volunteers!

The days are brisk and with Thanksgiving around the corner, we're highlighting our community with some great organizations that you can regularly volunteer with.

Starting this month, we're excited to bring Anne aboard as our new Volunteer Coordinator. You may have met her already because she is a rockstar in the Customer Service Department!

We will miss Jackie very much, and wish her all the best in her continued travels, if you see her before she leaves, be sure to say hello.

As always, to sign up for an event this month and receive a month of free Garbage to Garden service, RSVP by email, and we will help answer any questions you may have. Remember, events are first-come, first-serve.

Happy Composting!
The Garbage to Garden Team

even if you've already volunteered this month already!

I want to volunteer at the Garbage to Garden Compost Bagging Party!

Not available that day? We still have a couple of slots open for this Friday and the following Friday, just let us know in your email and we can get you booked!

Produce Distributions
with the Locker Project

King Middle School
Thursday, November 14th,
2:00 – 3:30pm

Presumpscot Elementary School
Wednesday, November 20th, 4:00 – 5:30pm

South Portland High School
Thursday, November 21st. 10:30am – 12:30pm

The Locker Project manages food pantries in schools, providing food for children who are food-insecure to take food home with them. Join the Locker Project this month to help distribute fresh produce and non-perishable food items.

Volunteers help arrange produce and groceries on tables, then assist students and parents with bagging the food up to take home. You will be a welcoming presence, making sure people know they are invited to take food. Everyone is invited to bring food home with them. This a great way to de-stigmatize free food distributions, particularly in the case of fresh food that would otherwise get wasted.

Email Steve to RSVP to distribute food with the Locker Project!

Volunteering with Preble Street
The mission of Preble Street is to provide accessible barrier-free services to empower people experiencing problems with homelessness, housing, hunger, and poverty, and to advocate for solutions to these problems.
Feed your hungry neighbors! Help serve any of 3 meals a day, 7 days a week at the Preble Street Resource Center Soup Kitchen. Volunteers assist with breakfast, lunch, or dinner, or at the weekly Thursday Food Pantry.

Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program
Brunswick, ME

Hungry neighbors in our community need your help to feed their families! Mid Coast Hunger Prevention has a number of initiatives that work to address food insecurity and volunteers place a vital role in fulfilling their mission by preparing meals, distributing groceries, picking up donated food and a variety of other tasks.

This month, MCHPP could use volunteers to help pickup donations, and afternoon volunteers for the food bank & food pantry. They're biggest needs are on Tuesdays and Saturdays this month.
