November Newsletter 

Welcome to November! This month not only includes the commemoration of the Marine Corps Birthday and Veterans Day, but also several exciting events around campus. Coming up next week, Dr. Peter Feaver will be speaking during a Lunch Dialogue at the Brodhead Center about public confidence in the military. Come join us - the link to RSVP can be found below! Next weekend, the Duke Armed Forces Association will be hosting the second annual Veterans Day 5k which will start at 1300 on East Campus. Lastly, the Duke Office of Student Veterans will host a Military Appreciation Tailgate on Saturday, 16 November prior to the start of the Duke vs. Syracuse football game. Please see the flyer below for more information. We would love to see you there! 
We would also like to tell the Duke veteran community about an upcoming class this spring titled, "Public Policy and Veterans: A Social Policy Seminar - The Case of Returning Veterans". The class will be taught be Paul Dillon and is open to all graduate students across Duke. More information can be found below.
With the semester in full swing, the Office of Student Veterans wants you to know that we are here to help in any way that we can. From coming by for a cup of coffee to inquiring about veteran services, we are here to lend a hand whenever needed!

Lunch Dialogue with Dr. Peter Feaver

Join the Office of Student Veterans as we learn from Dr. Peter Feaver! Dr. Feaver is a Professor of Political Science and Public Policy and is Director of the Duke Program in American Grand Strategy. He will be speaking about public confidence in the military. Lunch will be provided

2nd Annual Veterans Day Victory Lap 5K!

Join DAFA and the Office of Student Veterans for an afternoon of fun as we celebrate Veterans Day 2019! Last year over 300 people particpated. Will you be part of breaking last year's record? 
Outdoor fun, music, camaraderie, and memories are all in store!

Spring 2020 Class Announcement

"Public Policy and Veterans: A Social Policy Seminar - The Case of Returning Veterans"

Vietnam veteran Paul Dillon will be teaching a seminar focused on veterans issues at the Sanford School of Public Policy this coming spring semester. The course will run for the first 7 weeks of the semester, counting for 1.5 credits. All graduate students at Duke are eligible to enroll. As part of Duke's Division of Student Affairs, Duke Student Veterans offers support, resources, and community to our Student Vets, their families, and allies. Reminder to look out for the Student Veteran organizations and/or fellow Veterans at your schools. With over 300 Student Veterans and military personnel on campus, none of us are alone in our schools or programs - read on for ways to connect!
