It’s Research Week at PSU!
Research Weekis a celebration of the researchers who help make our university great. This week-long event honors and elevates the exceptional research, innovations, scholarship, and creativity of Portland State's faculty, students, and staff.
Combined ceremonies return to Moda Center this year, and help is needed to make the experience extra special for our graduates. PSU staff volunteerscan sign up for diploma stuffing on June 13 and to staff the morning and afternoon combined ceremonies at Moda on June 18.
Human Resources launches Employee Headcount Dashboard
PSU Human Resources has developed a new dashboard to help answer questions about the number of people employed at PSU in part-time and full-time roles.The Employee Headcount Dashboard displays employee headcount data for actively working employees by job type, race and ethnicity, and legal sex. Relevant details regarding how headcount totals are calculated are also included. The dashboard will be updated at the beginning of every month.
Join the conversation about ChatGPT and its impact on education
What can ChatGPT do? Why do instructors and others need to be more aware? How can we prepare students to utilize AI wisely and ethically to extend their capabilities? This Friday, May 12, the Office of Academic Innovation is hosting a Zoom discussion entitled “The Impact of ChatGPT and Artificial Intelligence on Education” with facilitator Dr. Cynthia Alby, PhD. The event includes an introduction to ChatGPT, a discussion on its implications for teaching, and strategies for addressing ethical and course design issues. Register online.
Register for a workshop on promoting international student success
The PSU Internationalization Council will host a Hybrid Faculty Workshop on Promoting International Student Success on Tuesday, May 16 from 12 p.m. - 1:50 p.m. The workshop is designed to help faculty understand the opportunities — and address the challenges — associated with teaching international students. The panel will open with a welcome from Provost Susan Jeffords, followed by sessions led by staff from the Office of International Student and Scholar Services and faculty who work extensively with international students, as well as a featured panel of international students. Nominate yourself for the Feminist of Color Awards
The 7th annual Feminist of Color Awards is an event that honors the achievements, lived experiences, brilliance, and resiliency of students, faculty, and staff of color at Portland State University. This event is put together through self-nominations. Everyone who is nominated is invited to attend and will receive an award certificate. Nominations are due by May 14.
