Starting Strong: Setting Smart Habits for Personal and Academic Success

Happy first week, and welcome to the Weekly Wellness Newsletter! The Weekly Wellness Newsletter provides useful information that will not only help you stay informed about the resources and events available to you, but also to find out what wellness tips and stress relief methods work best for you.
The first week of classes can be overwhelming. Here are some stress management tips from Student Wellness that can help you:

Manage your time: Planners, calendars, and task priority lists can be incredibly useful when it comes to managing your time. Go to this link and click “Informational Handouts and Worksheets” for time management resources designed specifically for UChicago students.
- Practice self care: Self care is extremely important for your mental health. Click here to see helpful self-care tips.

Make SMART goals: SMART goals are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Time-bound. Check out this planning form to set some SMART goals for yourself!
- Be kind to yourself: Adjusting at the beginning of the school year can be really difficult, so show yourself some compassion as you settle into a routine.

Make social connections: You can connect with the campus community through one of UChicago’s hundreds of RSOs, or through Student Wellness programs like Growing Together, Buddy Up, and Mindfulness Meditation.

Buddy Up offers graduate and professional students the opportunity to join a network of peers who want to meet with students across campus. Students are paired with a new buddy every two weeks. Register here or email Carolyn Banner with questions.

Join Student Wellness for an accessible and approachable Restorative Yoga class that will ease tension and melt your worries away. Classes are free and open to all levels of experience and props and mats are provided. Please come in comfortable clothes and dress in layers.
Class is held on Mondays from 3-4pm in the Student Wellness Multipurpose Room. (840 E. 59th Street)

Let's Talk provides easy access to free, informal, and confidential consultations with therapists from UChicago Student Wellness. No appointment is necessary. In-person sessions are held throughout Autumn Quarter on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays in a variety of locations on campus!
