Keeping Toros Informed

To keep the CSUDH community up to date with the latest news and developments regarding the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on the spring semester and campus operations, this newsletter will be providing routine updates throughout the crisis.

Fall 2021 Return to Campus Survey

What should Fall 2021 look like at CSUDH? Your input is critical to informing university decisions as we plan what a return to campus will look like in the fall.

We are currently conducting a survey of the Toro community, inviting you to share your thoughts on returning to campus. What would help you feel more comfortable about returning? What barriers do you anticipate? Your responses will help us better serve the entire campus community.

Please respond to the Fall 2021 Return to Campus Survey as soon as possible (by April 23 at the latest). The survey takes about 5 minutes and all participants will get the chance to participate in an opportunity drawing.

Coming to Campus? Pre-Screen and Check-in First

Anyone coming to campus must check-in at the Lot 3 COVID-19 Screening Check-in tent and show a Toro Safety Ambassador that you have completed the CSUDH COVID-19 pre-screening (available via the iToros mobile app). Cleared individuals will receive a colored wristband, which may be checked while on campus to allow entry into a campus building. Anyone experiencing COVID-19 symptoms will be asked to return home.

Toro Touchdown Space

In an effort to support students with challenges attending classes from home, the university has partnered with the Loker Student Union to create the Toro Touchdown Space. The secure, tented outdoor space between the union and the library provides individual seating, power at each table, and wifi access. The Toro Touchdown Space is available to all currently enrolled students, on a first-come, first-served basis.

Access is by appointment, Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. To reserve a spot or learn more, visit LSUCSUDH.org/ToroTouchdown.

Spring '21 Drop/Withdrawal Deadline Extended

After consultation with Academic Senate, Associated Students, Inc., and the Chancellor’s Office, CSUDH is extending its late withdrawal deadline to June 01, 2021.

Depending on your circumstances, withdrawing from a class may have a negative impact. Students should consult with an advisor for additional information before choosing this as an option. Please review the Drop/Withdrawal FAQ for further details.

Fall ’21 Registration

Registration for Fall 2021 classes begins on Monday, April 19.

Due to uncertainty about COVID-19 restrictions in the fall, the majority of courses are scheduled as online (virtual). Should public health continue to improve in the next couple of months, more classes currently listed as “alternative instruction” may switch back to in-person. Any revisions to the schedule will be completed by June 1 to give students enough time to plan accordingly.

Associated Students Inc. and Academic Affairs have put together a video explaining how to read the fall schedule.

COVID-19 Reporting Hotline

If you have contracted COVID-19, whether you have been on campus or not, please report your case to the confidential hotline at (310) 243-2076.

Visit csudh.edu/together/reporting for more information.

Please note: individuals who receive the COVID-19 vaccine and experience side effects within 24 to 48 hours do not need to call the CSUDH COVID-19 Hotline to report symptoms.

Anyone feeling ill and unable to work after receiving the vaccine should contact their supervisor. Symptoms from vaccinations typically do not last longer than 48 hours. Anyone with persisting symptoms should contact their medical provider.
