VIGH Receives Grants from Fogarty International Center

Two new five-year grants totaling $2.4 million were recently awarded to VIGH. The renewal of the Mozambique Collaborative Research Ethics Education Program will nurture a new generation of global health researchers from Mozambique in the ethical review of human participant research and the responsible conduct of research. The second award will evaluate and build a research capacity program in implementation science and clinical trial management to address Ebola, Lassa fever and other viral hemorrhagic fevers in Sierra Leone. The Partnership for Research in Emerging Viral Infections-Sierra Leone will address gaps and improve existing research capacity at in-country partner institutions.

Troy D. Moon, M.D., MPH, Associate Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Infectious Diseases at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and VIGH core faculty will serve as principal investigator of both grants.
