TEAM SPOTLIGHT
Shari, Group Fitness Instructor
Shari says: "I was born and raised in Tulsa, OK! I’m a wife and mother who loves all things health and fitness. My instructor journey began back in 2009 when I took a few classes at another gym and was bored! The music was super stale and their engagement was non-existent. I really believed that I could do better! My mother, who worked there, helped me get my foot in the door teaching a spin class, and I loved it! I’ve been teaching fitness classes ever since."Shari teaches: - Strength: 8:30am Mondays & Wednesdays
- Cycle & Stretch: 9:30am Mondays
- ZONE: 12pm Tuesdays and 9:30am Wednesdays & Fridays
Shari, you always keep us motivated and inspired, and we're so proud to have you on Team Active!

ACTIVE FIT TIP: PROTEIN PLANNING
By Personal Trainer Gabe SeefooProteins are the building blocks of life. Protein is necessary for proper cell function, and muscles need protein to repair and grow. When planning your meals, aim to include high-quality protein from a variety of animal and/or plant sources including meat, poultry, fish, eggs, and dairy, as well as seitan, tofu, tempeh, legumes, nuts and quinoa. If you're vegetarian or vegan, try to mix the "big 3" - legumes, grains and nuts/seeds - in order to consume all essential amino acids your body needs for good health.
Since the body slows digestion when we're less active and while sleeping, try to consume proteins that are higher in fat - such as pork and beef - earlier in the day because higher-fat foods take longer to digest than lower-fat fish and plant protein options. This will help minimize excess fat and calorie storage. Happy meal prepping!
