October 2, 2020
Dear Parents,
As mentioned in the last eView, I recently returned from taking my eldest child Jake, to College in Arizona. We were fortunate to have some great quality time together as a family unit and laugh and play together before leaving him at College.
It didn’t go as I expected. In a call to my mom, who lives in Tasmania, Australia, I shared of our experience. She commented that our experience was not like it was for her, with each of the 4 children in our family who went off to College. I expected tears, but instead we had a time of joy and celebration. This was a time of transition and a rite of a passage for Jake and our family. Our final task before returning home and after having settled him into College was to get him connected in a local Church. Finding a Church that was close in proximity to his campus and one that would offer connection, support, and feed him spiritually was important. After the service we attended (and receiving a free t-shirt), he felt connected and like he had a place to grow. This is reassuring as a parent, and probably something that prevented tears.

Short Term eLearning
If your child is feeling a little under the weather, has extracurricular activities, family vacations, or your family needs to quarantine, please consider using our short term eLearning option. This option requires that a parent email or call the Eagles Office (253.756.5317 Elementary or 253.756.2190 Upper School) on the specified day to inform the school their child will be eLearning. Administration will inform the teachers and students will then log onto their Microsoft Teams account to access their classes.
If your family likes the idea of having their students learn some days at home and some on campus on a regular basis, we need for you to sign up for our Hybrid or eLearning option. In order to change a placement all it requires is for you to fill out this form on our website. This form will automatically generate communication with the Administration regarding your change. Please allow 24 hours for processing.

Standardized Testing
8th, 9th, 11th Testing
On October 14th, LCA will have our PSAT testing day for Juniors, on that day we will also be running tests for 8th graders and Freshman students. We would recommend that all 8th, 9th, and 11th grade students participate in these tests, although they will not be penalized if they are unable to. For our eLearning population we are setting up a separate testing area for those who register with Jami Buselmeier, which will be only for eLearning families, Hybrid students will need to join the general population. Please note that these tests are proctored, meaning they are not allowed to be taken in the home. If you have any questions or would like to register your student for a separate eLearning seat for the 8th, 9th, or 11th grade tests, please contact Jami Buselmeier. Sophomores will be running a regular school day schedule.
College Application Day
On October 14th we will also be running our College Application Day for Seniors. This will be done virtually for both students on campus and off and a Zoom link will be sent out. For any questions please contact Jami Buselmeier.
