Student Spotlight

GRACE ROUDEBUSH '18

Loves About Brebeuf
I truly love Brebeuf because it has been such a home to me. My mom started working here when I was in first grade, and I loved coming into work with her whenever I could. Brebeuf’s environment is extremely inviting, and I constantly feel a sense of community whenever I talk to my teachers or classmates. Ultimately, I appreciate how Brebeuf has taught me more than just the basic academic material; I have had the opportunity to learn about other important topics such as my faith and social justice issues.
Favorite Class
It is hard to pick just one, but a couple of my favorite classes include Honors Anatomy with Mrs. McCarter and AP Macro with Mr. Tague.
Future Plans
I will be attending Vanderbilt University next fall, and I am planning on studying Molecular Biology.
Teams & Co-Curriculars
Varsity Volleyball
Varsity Swimming
NHS President
Totem Yearbook Editor
SALT Member
Secretary of Timmy Global Health Brebeuf Chapter
Co-Leader of Pre-Med Club
Ignatian Scholars
Brebeuf Ambassador
Random Fact(s)
I still remember saying the morning prayer at Brebeuf over the intercom system in 2nd grade.
I keep a very organized bullet journal.
I have an extensive collection of “Life is Good” t-shirts.
What is your current favorite show or series on tv, Netflix, etc?
I like to rewatch two of my favorite shows, How I Met Your Mother and Friends, because I have seen the episodes enough times where I can do my homework and still know what is going on in the show without really paying attention. I am pretty busy during the school year, so it is hard to binge watch and focus on new shows!
If you could travel to any place in the world, where would you go and why?
I have never left the United States, so I honestly would go anywhere if given the opportunity! If I had to choose one place, I would probably go to Paris.
You are now in your final semester at Brebeuf Jesuit.  Has it sunk in yet?
It has not sunk in yet! I have been walking around Brebeuf’s hallways for almost 12 years now, and it is crazy to think that it is almost all over. Even though I’m excited to move on to my next chapter, I do not feel ready to leave Brebeuf just yet.
In what way have you changed the most since your freshman year?
I would say that I am much more confident now than I was freshman year. I came into Brebeuf as a more quiet and observant student, but I feel like I can now speak up and participate in all of my classes. Brebeuf has provided the opportunity for me to develop my own identity and feel comfortable with who I am today.
As Grace mentions above, her mom, Claire, happens to be an employee of Brebeuf Jesuit, so we asked her how she feels Grace has changed the most since her freshman year.
"Along with confidence that grows from freshman to senior year, the biggest change I have seen in Grace is how thoughtful and loving she has become. Brebeuf has definitely widened her perspectives and worldview and she is not afraid to speak up for others. Grace has grown into an independent thinker who embodies the Grad at Grad characteristics. As a parent, there is nothing greater than to witness this transformation and know that she is prepared for the challenges beyond the walls of Brebeuf."

PSAT, SAT, and College Board Accomodations Request Information

In order to request accommodations for the ACT and PSAT/SAT tests, students must first have been receiving accommodations at Brebeuf for at least four months. Please note that receiving accommodations at Brebeuf does not ensure that ACT and College Board will approve accommodations for their tests. Individual requests must be made through both ACT and PSAT/SAT/College Board.
The request for PSAT/SAT/College Board accommodations will usually take place during the spring of a student’s freshman year in order for the student to have time to receive a decision by the time of the PSAT in October of their sophomore year. Parents can start the process by clicking here and submitting the signed consent form to Christina Rhodes, Director of Academic Counseling. Families must also submit the most recent psychevaluation form in order to complete the request. Once this has been completed, College Board typically makes a decision within four to six weeks.
The request for ACT accommodations will usually take place during a student's junior year, which is typically the first time students sit for the ACT exam. Students and parents cannot apply for ACT accommodations until they have applied to take the ACT exam for the first time.  The steps for applying for the ACT and then submitting the necessary information to Ms. Rhodes can be found by clicking here.
Parents will also need to submit a parent consent form to Ms. Rhodes, found here.
Once a student has registered for the ACT with accommodations, submitted the necessary information to Ms. Rhodes, and Ms. Rhodes completes the requests with ACT, a decision will be made within 4-6 weeks.
If you have any questions regarding the request for accommodations process, please do not hesitate to contact Christina Rhodes at crhodes@brebeuf.org or 317-524-7178.
