Rooibos Limited has is a staunch supporter of Augsburg Agricultural Gymnasium and recently acted as a sponsor of their annual prize giving event. During this event, the school celebrates the marvellous achievements of their learners.

In the above picture, Jean-Mari Jordaan received the coveted trophy for image builder of the school and her performance in agricultural subjects.

Scientists uncovering the health benefits of Rooibos will receive a boost of close to R10-million, thanks to a partnership between the Department of Science and Innovation, and the South African Rooibos Council.

The department has made R4.8-million available through its Sector Innovation Fund, to match the amount put forward by the Rooibos Council. The Sector Innovation Fund was launched in 2013 to increase the competitiveness of various sectors by encouraging investment in research.

In July 2022, members of South Africa’s commercial Rooibos tea industry paid R12.2 million (700,000 USD) to South Africa’s Indigenous Khoi and San communities.

The payment makes good on a historic agreement, called the Rooibos and Honeybush Traditional Knowledge Benefit Sharing Agreement, signed in 2019, which recognizes South Africa’s first peoples as the original knowledge holders of the region’s world-famous Rooibos tea.

The South African government feels that the agreement, referred to as the Benefit Sharing Agreement, will distribute the profits of commercial Rooibos tea production to Indigenous groups on an annual basis in order to redress historic imbalances.

A Western Cape woman has smashed the Guinness World Record by making 249 cups of tea in the space of an hour.

Ingar Valentyn of Wupperthal, a small town in the Cederberg mountains of the Western Cape, smashed the previous record of 150 by 99 cups.

Valentyn was on top form, averaging four cups of Rooibos per minute.

On September 7, Starbucks Japan released two new tea flavors at select stores throughout Japan: Peach Tranquility and Majestic Chai Oolong. In addition, they’ve added two limited-time drinks to their menu that combine both teas: the Peach and Majestic Chai Tea and the Peach and Majestic Chai Tea Frappuccino.

The Majestic Chai Oolong combines oolong, mate, and Rooibos teas that are then spiced with traditional chai spices like cinnamon and black pepper. This bold mix would taste great with or without milk.

Though the two flavors contrast starkly, they actually taste pretty good together — Peach Tranquility mellows out some of the stronger notes of the Majestic Chai Oolong, and when it’s made into Frappuccino form, it’s further enhanced by whipped cream and cinnamon toppings. The drink also has actual peaches in it!
