Reminders & Announcements

- On-campus Move In Weekend is just around the corner! This is an exciting and lively time for our campus as we welcome new students, continuing students, and their families to UCSB. The fun doesn’t end with move-in! the campus is busy planning a host of activities during the Week of Welcome to help students get (re)acquainted with campus life and each other.
For students moving into Isla Vista or the greater Goleta/Santa Barbara area, Community Housing Services has many helpful resources, including a guide to move-in/move-out videotaping. If students living off-campus find that coordinating meals is challenging, there is a meal plan option just for them. We look forward to welcoming everyone to the 2023-2024 academic year.
- A new version of Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) with Duo is now live for the UCSB MyBARC (billing) application. All students are required to use MFA with Duo to log into their MyBARC account. Please encourage your student to make sure their Duo is set up in order to access important UCSB applications.
Parent users should continue to log into the Gaucho E-Bill website using their Parent User Name and Password. You can find instructions on the BARC website for adding a parent to a student's BARC account.

Please note: When driving to campus for Move-In Weekend, traffic may be impacted by Highway 217 construction. Please consider using alternate routes and allow extra time.

We Asked: What's one thing all students should bring to UC Santa Barbara?
| |
With move-in nearly here, orientation leaders share what to bring to campus — from practical, must-have residence hall items to positive and open-minded attitudes. Make sure your Gaucho adds these to their packing list!

What can change in four years? A lot! In 2019, we interviewed a group of incoming UC Santa Barbara students about their hopes and ambitions for their college experience. Before graduating, we met with them again to re-watch their interviews and reflect on their time at UCSB.

Resources of the Month: Departments for the start of the academic year
| |
As your student prepares for the new academic year, they may need to visit or speak to a staff member in one of the departments below to resolve issues related to financial aid, submitting final transcripts, statement of residency, paying their fall bill, or other related topics. These departments are here to help!
It is important to know that FERPA policies prevent anyone other than the student from receiving information about a student's record unless release has been given. Each of the websites below provide information on how a student can choose to share the records maintained by that department with a parent or family member.
- Billing Accounts Receivable Collections (BARC): For questions related to monthly statements of student fees & charges (registration fees, campus housing charges, library fines, student health services, etc.), important fee deadlines, how to pay a BARC bill, and tax information.
- College Advising Offices (Letters and Science, Engineering, or Creative Studies): For questions regarding course scheduling and academic planning.
- Financial Aid & Scholarships: For questions related to the cost of attendance, how to accept financial aid via the My Aid Status portal, grant & scholarship opportunities, and financial resources around campus.
- Office of Admissions: For questions related to final transcripts, receiving of test scores sent to UCSB, or change of major requests by incoming students before the start of the academic year.
- Office of the Registrar: For questions related to residency for tuition purposes, enrollment and registration dates & deadlines, student records, and academic calendars.
