Furry Friend of The Week
Hi, I'm Lucy, a lovable little Tabby.
I've been with my mom and dad (Sarah Murr and Gary Lesser) for more than 17 years, since the day they spotted me at the Seal Beach (California) Animal Shelter. I was a tiny little furball, about six weeks old. I was sitting in the lobby, nestled on a full-grown Saint Bernard. From what they tell me, Mom and Dad decided to rescue me, right there on the spot (no, his name wasn't Spot). Here's what I looked like when they brought me to their home in La Quinta, later that day. I was very playful, and slept a lot. Still do.
For much of my life, I hung out with my sister, Betsy, a Calico who died in 2020, at the age of 15. Darn feline leukemia. I do think a lot about Betsy, but mostly I enjoy letting the Colorado sun wash over me as I cat nap pretty much all day long.
Over the years, I’ve lived in Long Beach, La Quinta, San Rafael — all in California. And I’ve had two homes in Carbondale. But I’ve never been outside, and that’s one of the reasons I expect to live well into my twenties. I see no coyotes in my future. Take that, you creepy predators!
I don’t get much exercise, and yes, I’m getting a bit of a middle-age spread, but I’m loving life and feel great. I eat one can of food every day, and apparently, that keeps the doctor away. I talk. A lot. My mom and dad have no idea what I'm saying, but I like that, cuz it keeps them guessing. Did I mention I’m quite verbal?
All in all, my life is quite simple: I eat, sleep, and poop. Pretty much like most of you. I hope you’ll come and see me sometime.
We would like to thank Sarah Murr and Gary Lesser for sharing Lucy with us for our featured Furry Friend of the Week! If you would like your furry friend to be featured, please submit a picture and short bio to Jessica Hennessy: jessica.hennessy@rvrma.org.
