| Winter/Spring Recreation CatalogThe Ken-Caryl Ranch Metropolitan District recreation staff wants to make browsing your many program offerings an easy, one-stop shop. Our 2016 Winter/Spring Recreation Programs Catalog is available online with Early Childhood, School Age, KC Nature, Adult, Special Events and Summer Camp information. This catalog will be your ultimate guide for recreational programming into the month of May, and it is available online only in an effort to be green. This catalog does not include tennis or fitness programming, but these programs are also available online.

Christmas Tree Chipping Moved to Brannon Gearhart ParkThe Parks Department is accepting Christmas trees for chipping again this year, but trees need to be dropped off at Brannon Gearhart Park instead of the Equestrian Center due to construction at Dakota Lodge. Brannon Gearhart Park is located just east of Valley Parkway between Mahonia and Buckthorn (see Google Map). Simply drop off your tree in the designated area (there is a sign) anytime between now and Jan. 17. Please be sure to remove any non-coniferous items such as metallic materials and tinsel before bringing your trees, as many materials can damage the chipping equipment. The mulch will be applied at the base of trees and shrubs in parks and greenbelts.

| Bond Project Construction Progress
Bond project construction is moving along at all three facilities. Drywall is being installed at the Ranch House in the north end of the lobby and A/V room area (top photo) to create a multi-purpose event space. Demolition is underway on the lower level of the Community Center (middle photo). The new bathrooms inside Dakota Lodge have been framed, and excavation work for the addition is in progress (bottom photo).

Trail Work Near Dakota Lodge and Brannon Gearhart Park
There's a trail closure near Dakota Lodge during the bond project construction. The trail is closed at the bridge, and there's no access to points north. There's a detour to Valley Parkway to access the North Hogback Open Space and Manor House Trail. See the Trail Closure Map for the exact location. There's also work on a trail near Brannon Gearhart Park. The contractor will be clearing the culvert at the low-water crossing on the Brannon Gearhart Trail and will excavate a channel downstream of the culvert for approximately 120 feet. In addition, several tons of rock will be placed at the outlet of the flared-end section of the storm drain culvert just up the hill from the low-water crossing. See the Trail Work Map for details.

| Thursday Kanga & Roo Playgroup Ends Dec. 10; Starts Back in January on Fridays
Come join parents and children from your community in a fun and engaging FREE weekly playgroup setting brought to you by the Ken-Caryl Community Network and Ken-Caryl Ranch Metropolitan District. Kanga & Roo playgroup is designed to bring families of young children together to enjoy and create a positive, strong community. No registration required. The last playgroup meeting of 2015 will be Thursday, Dec. 10. The playgroup will move to Fridays starting Jan. 15. The group meets from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at the Ranch House.

| Friday Story Time & Baby Time Will Move to Thursdays in JanuaryThe Friday Story Time and Baby Time at the Ranch House will end Dec. 18, and it will move to Thursdays starting Jan. 7. Story Time is geared toward the preschool age group, but all ages are welcome. Baby Time is for children up to 2 years old, although older siblings are welcome to join the fun. No registration is required for either program.

| MA Board Adopts 2016 Budget; Dues Will Increase $2 Per Month in 2016At their November Business Meeting, the Ken-Caryl Ranch Master Association Board of Directors adopted the 2016 Budget. The new budget includes an increase in the monthly dues of $2 per month. If you pay your dues through your bank’s online bill pay, you will need to adjust the payment amount to $48 starting in January. If your dues are paid by automatic withdrawal through the Master Association’s Automated Clearing House (ACH) process, then you don’t need to do anything. | One Master Association Board Seat Open for Election in 2016Please give some thought to serving your community by becoming a member of the Ken-Caryl Ranch Master Association Board of Directors. There is one seat on the MA Board that will be on the ballot for the Board of Directors election in March 2016. The MA Board meets in the evening on the first and third Tuesdays of each month. Board members are expected to attend other meetings on an as-needed basis. The affairs of the Master Association are managed by the five-member Board along with a professional staff. Serving three-year staggered terms, a portion of the Board is elected each year. If you are interested in running for the MA Board, download a Board Application or pick one up at the Ranch House. Applications are due by Jan. 29.
