Forward All Communications from Federal Agencies |
Surveys, Questionnaires and Requests for Data
The university is aware that federal entities may have sent surveys, questionnaires or other requests for data to federally-funded investigators, particularly those with projects that include a foreign assistance component. In many cases, these requests were sent directly to principal investigators with a very short turnaround deadline. Many of these surveys ask questions about institution-wide practices and should not be returned without prior review and approval from GW’s Authorized Organization Representative. If you receive such a request, please immediately contact the Office of Sponsored Projects (OSP) at osr@gwu.edu for guidance.
Certifications in Federal Proposals or Awards
Please also promptly forward any request for certification to OSP at osr@gwu.edu. Individuals should not make any institutional or project-level certifications. OSP will review all requests and follow up with sponsors for additional guidance.

Continue Using GW’s Federally-Negotiated Indirect Cost Rate |
On April 4, 2025, a federal judge in the District of Massachusetts granted a permanent injunction on the National Institutes of Health’s move to limit indirect cost rates which reimburse grantees for expenses related to facilities and administrative support. Though the administration has appealed this decision, the permanent injunction will remain in place as appeals are heard. GW investigators should continue to utilize the university’s federally-negotiated indirect cost rates as they develop and submit NIH proposals. Any request by a sponsor to apply a rate different than GW’s federally-negotiated rate will require review and approval by a GW authorized representative.

Your Feedback Requested: Research Data Survey |
Provide your feedback to inform recommendations for university-wide data management practices, guidelines and infrastructure! The GW Research Data Survey, Phase I: Data Access, Storage, and Preservation Needs takes only 10 minutes to complete and may be submitted by any GW faculty member or researcher. The survey was created by the university's Research Data Management (RDM) Task Force to better understand the community’s needs around data management, storage and compliance with funder requirements. The RDM Task Force is a collaborative effort that includes representatives from Himmelfarb Health Sciences Library, Information Technology, Libraries and Academic Innovation and the Office of the Vice Provost for Research.
