Heading Toward the End of the Year |
Seasons greetings F&P colleagues,
We hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving holiday filled with family, friends, and food!
We are thankful for each and every one of you for helping F&P in its mission to “serve as a cohesive team of trusted partners who act as resource stewards and lead the enablement of transparency and innovation in order to support compliance and strategic decision-making.”
Reading our mission statement, we are reminded of all the things that we collectively do every day to support our students, faculty, community partners, each other and Georgia Tech as a whole. We've experienced many successes this year as we worked to promote and support Georgia Tech's various initiatives.
In doing so, we:
|
|
|
-
Extracted, reviewed, and submitted data to support our top rankings in a number of publications, including the #10 public university in this year’s US News & World Report rankings.
-
Continued the implementation of our new budget model including the reporting and analysis tools to support the model. This new model will be important to reward innovation, contain costs, and generate revenue to support continued growth consistent with the Institute Strategic Plan.
-
Automated a number of processes in the procurement, accounts payable, and grants management areas to help streamline work and manage an ever-increasing number of transactions.
- Worked closely with a number of internal and external partners to finalize the funding and supporting the beginning of construction of Georgia Tech’s largest and most complex construction project to date -- Tech Square Phase 3.
- Supported the award and administration of over $1.4B in research support (sponsored awards received during FY23). This includes sponsored projects in areas ranging from artificial intelligence in manufacturing, to climate change mitigation, to robotic musicians!
-
Prepared and reviewed financial reports to support more than $2B of financial transactions, and received an Excellence in Financial Reporting award from the state for the ninth time in ten years.
-
Processed another record number of student payments while implementing process improvements including a new international payment processing system, faster processing of refunds to students and continued refinement of a robust chatbot to manage more common student and parent questions about payments.
-
We have also had a number of our professionals present at local, regional and national conferences this year to demonstrate their expertise and GT’s successes. We had a number of groups present at InterAct USG in Savannah earlier this year, but also had presenters at the Georgia Procurement Conference, the Southern Association of College and University Business Officers, and the Southern Association for Institutional Research.
|
We know the next several weeks will be busy as we all work to wrap up the myriad of things we're scheduled to complete during 2023, but we hope you are able to take a break and join us for our annual holiday celebration on Wednesday, January 13, from 2-4 p.m. in the Lyman Hall atrium.
As we head toward the end of the year, please take a moment to celebrate yourselves and your colleagues.
Thank you again!
Jennifer

F&P Employee Spotlight on Amry Stanley |
|
|
Amry Stanley hails from Augusta, GA and is a Financial Compliance Program Manager for the Controller's Office. She has supported F&P at Georgia Tech for the past 3.5 years.
Amry's role with the Compliance Team serves as a very important function of F&P. The team is responsible for compiling the financial statements of the Institute and coordinating the annual audit of those statements with the State. "This process keeps us pretty busy July – November; the rest of the year we support F&P through various initiatives to keep the Institute in compliance with Board of Regents rules relating to prior year purchase orders, allowable costs, and custodial funds. We also coordinate two big events each year – the Financial Summit and the Year End Town Hall", Stanley said.
Work aside, Amry keeps busy in her personal time by indulging in some pretty cool hobbies! "My mom and I have season tickets to the Broadway shows at the Fox – we aren’t talented but appreciate those who are."
When asked to share something interesting about herself that others may not know, she mentioned sharing an October 11 birthday with her favorite TV show – Saturday Night Live! She was actually able to visit the show in 2014 with Charlize Theron as the guest host!
