November in the Garden

November is usually considered one of our dreariest months, but at UBC Botanical Garden, the list of plants with colourful foliage, berries and flowers is substantial. In some cases, it may be fragrance, rather than a visual cue that indicates a floral presence.

🍎 A big thank you for a wonderful Apple Festival 2024 🍎

The Friends of UBC Botanical Garden thank our staff and volunteers for helping make this year's Festival a great success, even under very challenging circumstances. There was an atmospheric river event during the Apple Festival weekend this year, and the Festival went ahead. We are always grateful to our volunteers, but this year, we are especially appreciative that they followed through on their commitment, under less-than-ideal circumstances. That is the hallmark of a wonderful volunteer.

The Festival has two primary objectives. The first is to promote and raise awareness of the important work done by the many apple growers of British Columbia, by making available more than 30,000 pounds of fresh Okanagan apples for Festival attendees. The second objective is to raise funds to support education, research, and conservation at the Garden.

Thank you for coming out, supporting and volunteering making this year's festival a memorable one. We hope to see you again next year!

Our beautiful, handmade wreaths, crafted by the Friends of the Garden are thoughtfully created using cuttings and materials from UBC Botanical Garden and surrounding areas. Don’t miss out on this chance to bring a piece of nature to your home this season.

We have moved to our winter schedule and look forward to welcoming you. Daylight hours are shorter, and the garden's light fade quickly. Arrive early, as there are adventures and memories to be made.
