Dr. Sara Damron, assistant professor of nursing, wrote an article published in the Arkansas State Board of Nursing Update and online. She examines the roles, scope of practice, schedules, and salary considerations associated with various nurse practitioner specialties. The purpose of her article is to assist nurses who are considering advancement into the nurse practitioner role with selecting the certification pathway that best aligns with their professional goals.

Dr. Alexandr M. Sokolov (left), assistant professor of engineering management and construction management, and programs director, together with graduate research assistant Ifaz Ahmed and student Travis Simpson, have published a study in the journal Measurement, advancing how semiconductor manufacturers select optical surface‑metrology systems. The researchers’ work provides industry and research labs with a data‑driven methodology and a practical framework for selecting the optimal metrology configuration, thereby improving measurement reliability and operational efficiency.

Bryant Invited to Address Olympic Academy |
Dr. Lance G. Bryant, professor of sport management and pedagogy, recently spoke at the International Olympic Academy in Ancient Olympia, Greece, at the first International Conference on the Spectrum of Teaching Styles. His presentation examined the global application of teaching styles within the Spectrum framework and how those approaches influence the occupational socialization of instructors. Bryant joined the university faculty in 2007.

| Hansen Addresses Heritage Symposium |
Dr. Gregory Hansen, professor of folklore and English, recently gave a paper online for a symposium in France sponsored by the International Society for Ethnology and Folklore through its working groups on historical approaches in cultural analysis as well as cultural heritage and property. Hansen explored how folklorists have contributed to theory that supports open-air museums, radio documentaries, documentary film, folklife festivals, and other approaches to programs on cultural heritage.

Mercier Completes Doctorate in Nursing |
Dr. Maureen Mercier, adjunct faculty in nursing, successfully defended her dissertation and has been awarded a Doctorate in Nursing Practice degree from Saint Louis University. Mercier teaches in the adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner program. Her dissertation compared results of robotic versus open kidney transplantation. Mercier also is lead nurse practitioner for the solid organ abdominal transplant team at Washington University.
