Dear Parents and Guardians, The end of 2018 did not bring great news to De La Salle High School for 2019. On Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at 3:00 p.m., we received official notice from the District that the Brothers’ Community will be closed next year (2019-20), and both Brother Lawrence Haley '77 and Brother Anthony Lenz will be assigned to other communities in the District. Brother Lawrence will be moving to Napa to be the Director of the Holy Family Community (where our retired Brothers live) and Brother Anthony will be moving to Saint Mary’s College. ... Dear Parents, Guardians, Students, and Friends of De La Salle,
We just completed the first day of school, and it is amazing to see how much the campus changes when school is in session. I always have to remind myself that when the students return, I have to move quickly out of the quad at the beginning of break as the young men literally race to the Hofmann Center to eat. Yesterday, the students in my Study Skills class noted that the things they loved the most about Christmas break were time with family and friends and sleeping. | DRIVER'S EDUCATION QUARTER 3

Driver's Education for Quarter 3 is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, January 15. The cost for Driver's Ed is $150 per student. Classes will take place in room 201 during 7th period.

SENIOR PARENT GRADUATION MEETING

On Wednesday, January 16, there is a mandatory Senior Parent Graduation Meeting at 6:30 p.m. in the Brother Celestine Cormier, FSC Theatre. During this meeting, Mr. Aliotti will provide information regarding graduation activities, ticket order forms, the Senior Baccalaureate Mass/Buffet, scholarship information, and more.

Monday, January 21, De La Salle will host the
Martin Luther King Classic at Saint Mary's College. De Le Salle will play San Joaquin Memorial at 3:15 p.m. at McKeon Pavilion.

CRAB FEED - PARENT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Parent volunteers are still needed for the 2019 De La Salle Crab Feed, and shifts are available on both Friday and Saturday. Whether you are available to help set up, be there during the event, or if you can help clean up ... we have lots of opportunities available.

De La Salle will host a pair of college planning/academic advisement nights for Spartan parents at the end of January. The first will be for parents of junior students, while the second will be for parents of freshman and sophomore students.

LADOUCEUR ATHLETIC PERFORMANCE CENTER

Construction of the Ladouceur Athletic Performance Center (LAPC) is underway.
Through the creation of the LAPC, we aim to fulfill a bold vision for our students. This state-of-the-art fitness center will better educate the whole person – in mind, body, and spirit. The new facility will include a training center, coaches' offices, a conference room, a locker room, team rooms, and Hall of Fame lobby and reception area.

Shotgun Start at 11 a.m. The 2019 Brother Maris Golf Tournament will be at the Round Hill Country Club (Alamo, Calif.) on Monday, May 13. The Brother Maris Tournament is a fun-filled day that includes tee prizes, a hosted breakfast and Bloody Mary bar, on-course food and beverages, and an end-of-day cocktail reception with a silent auction and a live auction.

The annual Martin Luther King Classic will be held on Monday, January 21 at Saint Mary's College in Moraga. The spring sports season is just around the corner! Tryouts for De La Salle's nine spring sports begin on Monday, January 28. If you have any questions regarding tryouts, go to www.DLSspartans.org/staff and email the varsity head coach for your sport.
Senior cross country runner Connor Livingston '19 was the NCS Division II champion for the second straight year, finished seventh at state, and 15th at nationals to earn All-American status. In the first semester of the school year, 11 De La Salle student-athletes signed their committment letters to attend four-year college for next year. Tuition Payments
As a reminder, tuition payments are due on the 1st of each month and considered late after the 10th of that month. If you have questions relating to your tuition obligation, call Ms. Kathy Resch in the Business Office at 925-288-8122 or e-mail her at reschk@dlshs.org.
Financial Aid
Financial Aid Applications through FACTS for the 2019-20 De La Salle school year are available on the school website. - Families currently receiving a financial aid grant must re-apply every school year.
- Financial Aid Applications for the 2019-20 school year are due February 11, 2019.
Financial Aid Workshops will be held in the De La Salle Library on the following dates: - Saturday, January 26 from 9-11 a.m.

The Junior Retreat is Friday, January 11. There are still openings for the Parent/Son Retreat on February 9-10. This retreat is for either mom, dad, or guardian and son. It is a wonderful opportunity to honestly evaluate, celebrate, strengthen, and deepen the parent/son relationship. It is open to students in all grade levels. We encourage all families to take advantage of this retreat experience. Registration is required ($300 for both) and the deadline to sign up is Friday, January 11. CLICK HERE to register.
