Celebrating National Nutrition Month with New Faces and Feel Good Foods!
This month, GW welcomes Erin Iverson, a Dietetic Intern from Virginia Tech who will be training alongside our Campus Dietitian. As a soon‑to‑be RDN, she will help bring even more support, resources, and approachable nutrition education to GW students across campus.
National Nutrition Month (observed each March) reminds us of the Power of Nutrition - and one of the best ways to strengthen your confidence around food is by turning to credible, science‑based guidance. Whether you’re sorting through confusing nutrition headlines or trying to build balanced meals on a busy schedule, you don’t have to do it alone. Partnering with an RDN gives you access to personalized nutrition information tailored to your goals, needs, culture, and food preferences. We are trained to help you navigate your options and build eating patterns that truly support your well‑being.
If you’re looking to boost your confidence in your food and beverage choices, explore strategies for eating well on campus, or work on individual health goals, remember that you can book an appointment with me.
|
And since we’re focusing on the Power of Nutrition, let’s spotlight March’s Feel Good Food, a veggie that really knows how to root for your well‑being (see what I did there)… carrots!
Carrots aren’t just colorful and delicious—they’re a functional food, meaning they offer health benefits beyond basic nutrition. These vibrant veggies are packed with beta carotene, a powerful compound that supports eye health and vision. And here’s a fun bonus: when you cook carrots, their beta‑carotene becomes even more available for your body to absorb! Carrots also deliver a solid boost of dietary fiber, which helps keep your gut happy and supports smooth digestion. Portable, snackable, and easy to add to meals, carrots make it simple to nourish both your digestive and visual health.
