Welcome to BenchmaRx, the quarterly e-newsletter from the Cedarville University School of Pharmacy. Celebrating a New Class of Professional Pharmacy Students

Cedarville University School of Pharmacy celebrated the entry of 46 new students into its Doctor of Pharmacy program at its sixth annual white coat ceremony on September 9. The ceremony marks the students’ entry in the professional pharmacy program at Cedarville and also signifies their recognition as healthcare professionals by the Ohio Board of Pharmacy. Dr. Samson Amos, Associate Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, spoke at the ceremony and challenged the students to pursue excellence.

Joining in the Fight for Life

Dr. Dennis Sullivan, Professor of Pharmacy Practice and Director of the Center for Bioethics, spoke at the LifeTech Conference on September 16. LifeTech is an organization of engineers and software developers that strives to expand the use of technology in the pro-life movement. Sullivan spoke on new controversies regarding brain death.

Pharmacy Students Practice Patient Care Through Flu Clinic

Pharmacy students joined School of Nursing students and personnel from University Medical Services to host a flu shot clinic in September. Students were able to gain firsthand experience administering vaccinations as well as processing paperwork and payments.

New Pharmacy Center for Innovation Aims to Improve Healthcare

At its October 5 meeting, the Cedarville University Board of Trustees approved a new Center for Pharmacy Innovation for the School of Pharmacy. This new center will seek to use professional pharmacists’ expertise to improve the quality of healthcare in the U.S.

Equipping Students to Reach Diverse Populations

Students from the Cedarville University School of Pharmacy presented a research project on diversity at the annual Student National Pharmaceutical Association (SNPhA) conference. Students presented their findings on criteria minority students use when choosing a pharmacy school.

Preparing Future Pharmacy Leaders

At Cedarville University, we’re not just training pharmacists, we’re training Christian pharmacists who will take their outstanding academic preparation and biblical worldview and enter the workforce ready to lead and make an impact on the culture for Christ. Leadership events, like the one held at the University of Cincinnati College of Pharmacy on October 13, are just one way our students are prepared to excel and lead.
