St. Aidan's Begins Livestreaming In-Person Worship this Sunday at 10 am

Beginning this Sunday, St. Aidan's replaces its pre-recorded 8 am service with livestreaming of the in-person service at 10 am, through Facebook. The link to view the worship service on our website is provided above. Our ability to purchase the equipment needed to livestream was made possible through generous donations from Don Howarth and Suzelle Smith and Phil and Leslie Paton. Rev. Ed Milkovich has designed and installed cameras and microphones to help the church broadcast live. Bear with us as we fine tune the technical elements of the broadcast over the coming weeks. If you have comment on the broadcasts, send a message to the church by clicking HERE or call the church office at 310-457-7966 and leave a message for Nathaniel.

Hello, Thomas! Welcome to St. Aidan's!

Thomas Craig Buckley joins the St. Aidan's staff and family this Sunday, August 8, as Director of Worship Arts and Christian Enrichment, taking over for Susan De Kam. Thomas is known to be at home both on and off stage with repertoire including both operatic and musical theatre. A Countertenor, he has sung roles from baroque to contemporary (including some non-traditional classic roles). As a conductor, he has worked across the US in both opera and musical theatre (including Hawaii and Alaska) and Europe. Notable musical theatre credits include Beauty and the Beast, CATS and Heathers:The Musical: High School Edition (world premiere). He currently lives in Sherman Oaks with his partner Michael who is a teaching artist for the LAPhil, and their four year old Yorkie, Rocky. He holds degrees from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey, and is currently entering his second year in the Master of Divinity program at Fuller Seminary.

Celebration of Life: Barbara Bacon

St. Aidan's lost its beloved parishioner Barbara Bacon last year just as the pandemic started. Barbara's family is now celebrating Barbara with a memorial service and reception on Friday, Aug. 6, 4 pm, at St. Aidan's. All parishioners are invited. Following a sanctuary service led by the St. Aidan's clergy, a reception on the St. Aidan's courtyard will feature food, refreshments, and music. Masks are required.

Centering Prayer -- Fridays at Noon by Zoom Meeting

Centering Prayer is a method of contemplative prayer in which we rest silently in the presence of God. It is a very simple method that is easy to learn. We may think of prayer as thoughts or feelings expressed in words, but this is not the only form of prayer.

In Matthew 6:6 Jesus says: “Whenever you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you.” Centering Prayer is a way of saying ‘Here I am.’ The next step is up to God. It is a way of putting yourself at God’s disposal; it is God who determines the consequences.

Please join us (virtually) every Friday at noon (sharp!) for thirty minutes of silent prayer led by Deacon Paul. To join the Centering Prayer meetings, click the link HERE or use the link found near the bottom of the church website home page.

Stay safe, stay faithful,

-- Deacon Paul
