Wednesday Night Re:treats
Tonight: Branden Henry, counselor and owner of Red River Counseling and a PHUMC member, and Christina Dent, author of Curious: A Foster Mom’s Discovery of Unexpected Solutions to Drugs and Addiction and the founder and President of End It For Good, will be our guest speakers following our meal. Branden asked if Parkway Hills would be their practice run-through for a presentation they will be making reviewing their research around vulnerability to addiction and current treatment responses and the possibility of doing something different. Youth will remain for this presentation but Bridge (5th and 6th graders) and PHUMC Kids will have their own activities.

Wednesday, October 1: Soup Supper at 5:45 pm. Afterward, adults will discuss Part 1 of our Book Club pick, The Moral Teachings of Jesus by David P. Gushee. Youth will have a game night in the Youth room, Bridge will enjoy an art night outside, and our PHUMC kids will have a science night using the story of Moses.

Don't forget to reserve your place for Wednesday October 1 supper by tearing off the reservation form in Sunday's bulletin and placing it in the offering basket, by using this link or by calling or emailing the office by noon on Monday.
The annual Women Build for Habitat for Humanity MS Capital Area is underway and they are in need of some help to fill their remaining shifts.  Parkway Hills has signed up for Saturday, September 27 from 12:45 to 4:00 pm.  We need 5 more volunteers (women or men) to fulfill our obligation.  As a reminder, ages 16 and 17 may volunteer with parental consent. The site is located at 762 Cedarhurst Road in Jackson. You can meet us at the site at 12:45 September 27 or at Parkway Hills at 12:20 to carpool. We are projected to be doing exterior painting. Click here, or see the clipboard in the back of the worship center to sign up.
Sunday Night Bridge: Sunday, September 28 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Our 5th and 6th graders are invited for a night of pizza, fellowship, and faith development with Mrs. Jennifer. Friends are welcome to join. Meet in the Bridge room (first door on the left, upstairs, Worship center building) at 5:30.
Baby on the Way!
You may or may not know that PHUMC members, Zack and Amanda Hamilton, are responsible for keeping our building clean and our spaces looking nice and inviting. You also may or may not know that they are about to be grandparents, again! Their son, Shelby Wilson, who also aids with the custodial responsibilities at PHUMC, will soon be welcoming his first child. We know it takes a village to prepare for all the things needed to care for a newborn. If you would like to share some love and aid in welcoming this new baby into the world, click this link to find their Amazon wishlist and let's shower this new baby with all the necessary things. (It's a boy!)
Women's Ministry Brunch: Saturday, October 4 at 10:00 am. Twisted Turnip in Gluckstadt. Reach out to Christine Morrison for more information or to sign up to attend.
Current Children's ministry Sunday School Curriculum: Big Faith. Big Faith takes children through Bible stories using hands-on activities,
child-friendly themes, and includes at-home connections. Children 4th grade and under meet in the Garden room at 9:30 am each Sunday before dividing into age-appropriate rooms for a deeper dive into the lesson.
Be sure to pick up your faith-home connection sheet in the foyer of the Worship Center, by the kid's activity bags. This enables the kids to share what they're learning in Sunday School with the whole family.
We always need volunteers to aid with our kids ministry. For more information about any of our kids ministry events contact Jennifer.

The dream of PHUMC Beds for Kids Ministry is that every child has his or her own bed. This year the ministry has expanded to include other churches in the Madison area to help with funding, building, and delivering the beds, fully outfitted with new mattresses, pillows, and linens.

The September Communion Offering supports the Beds for Kids Ministry. Our funds are running low as we have the wonderful problem of so many beds being assembled and delivered recently.
