Responding to Feelings of Isolation
|
The United States is in the midst of a loneliness epidemic, which means that feelings of loneliness and isolation are common; even before the covid-19 pandemic. However studies show that loneliness is more prevalent among young people, a survey by the Cigna Group found that 79% of adults aged 18 to 24 report feeling lonely compared to 41% of seniors aged 66 and older.
Even though loneliness is normal, you don’t have to be lonely at UChicago! There are tons of resources, on and off campus, for making meaningful social connections:

Once a quarter, therapy dogs come to campus, offering students an opportunity to socialize, lower anxiety, reduce loneliness, and have a healthy outlet for positive touch. We hope to see you there!

Join Student Wellness for an accessible and approachable Restorative Yoga class that will ease tension and melt your worries away. Classes are free and open to all levels of experience and props and mats are provided. Please come in comfortable clothes and dress in layers.
Class is held on Mondays from 3-4pm in the Student Wellness Multipurpose Room. (840 E. 59th Street)

Let's Talk is open to all University of Chicago undergraduate and graduate students and is a good fit for
students who are not sure about therapy and wonder what it’s like to talk with a therapist.
Winter Quarter Let's Talk will be held until March 7.
