Year in Review
2019 was an exciting year at Bowen.
Governor Asa Hutchinson and Attorney General Leslie Rutledge were on campus to help announce the creation of our new Veterans Legal Services Clinic and Veterans Pro Bono Services Center.
We partnered with Little Rock Athletics to create an internship in NCAA Division I athletics.
We created 4+3 pipeline programs with Philander Smith College and the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.
We created a 25% tuition scholarship for accepted students who earned a bachelor’s degree from an Arkansas historically black college or university.
We worked with the National Center for State Courts and the Arkansas Administrative Office of the Courts to create the Arkansas State Court Fellows Program.
We partnered with Blue Cross Blue Shield to create in-house counsel internships.
Kelly S. Terry was named Assoc. Dean for Experiential Learning & Clinical Programs.
Prof. Alicia Mitchell received the university-wide Faculty Excellence Award for Public Service, and Asst. Dean Wanda Hoover received the university-wide Staff Achievement Award for Public Service.
161 first-year students arrived in August.
At the 2019 Alumni Scholarship Luncheon, we honored the service of The Honorable Dustin McDaniel ('98), Rep. Jimmy Gazaway ('06), and Ms. Tamika Edwards ('11). Alumni and donors contributed nearly $80,000 toward scholarships for Bowen students.
We honored the generosity of Sam Perroni ('74) by naming Room 307 in his honor.
Bowen alumna Cara Tomlinson Butler ('19) made the highest score in the state on the July 2019 Arkansas bar exam.
Bowen student Aisosa Osaretin was crowned Miss Nigeria International.
