September's Communion Offering supports flood relief through UMCOR:
August 31, 2016
Wednesday Night Programing resumes with our first dinner on September 14th!  That evening, we will have cards available to write encouraging notes to our College and Graduate students: 'Operation Reach Out'.  If we do not yet have your son or daughter's current mailing address, please click here to send it to us. We want to be sure they know their home church is thinking of them and praying for them. New classes for children, youth, and adults will begin the following week, September 21st.  Details to follow in the next newsletter.
What a priviledge to host 80 new Cub Scouts and their families for their very first cookout of the year!  That's right, we had over 200 people enjoying our PHUMC campus Sunday afternoon. A big thank you goes out to Pack 164's Cubmaster Kevin Weber, as well as to Chris Gibbs, Rick Kolar, Terry Pollard, and all the other Parkway Hills families who work so hard to be good examples and to provide an excellent scouting program for these young boys.
Job well done!
(See more pictures on their Facebook page.)
Kairos Team #37 had a great first training meeting preparing for their CMCF event October 4th through the 7th. (They have 4 more sessions planned.) Their goal is to create and sustain a strong, supportive Christian community within the prison.  Marilyn Katz, representing Kairos #37, asks each of us to CLICK ON THIS PRAYER VIGIL SIGN-UP SHEET; choose a 30-minute time slot, and commit to praying for these women!  The team will create an actual prayer "chain" that the inmates will be able to look at anytime of the day or night and know that someone cares enough to be praying for them at that moment. Your pledge to pray will remind someone in prison that God has not forsaken them, but is present and loves them.  Sign up today!
Men's Clothing Drive
We are collecting new and gently worn men's clothing for the month of September. These will stock the clothing closet of Grace Place in Jackson. Drop off your donations at any time this month, and Aubrey Leigh Goodwin will deliver them for you!  All items will be accepted, but they are in constant need of pants, shoes, XL shirts, hats and backpacks.
ZUMBA HAS RETURNED
Melissa Ragazzi, a certified Zumba instructor, is offering classes for fun and fitness in The Garden right here at Parkway Hills. We'll meet every Tuesday night at 6:00 pm.
Classes are open to everyone, regardless of fitness level, gender, age, or membership at PHUMC. Join us when you can, it's just $5.00 a class!
(Or you may pre-pay: $20 for 5 classes.)
September's Communion Offering will fund flood relief through UMCOR.
