We are and helping more and more community members every day thanks to your generous support! Los Cerritos YMCA has initiated brand new aquatic and sports programs for the City of Paramount! With new Child Care programs, Youth Basketball programs and Swimming Lessons, Los Cerritos Y has started the Summer off with a bang having over 250 participants enrolled per swim session!
2nd Annual Early Childhood Education Preschool Carnival!
Kids and their parents had a great time with the games, petting zoo, obstacle course, and a lot of yummy food including shaved ice and popcorn (thanks to Kiwanis Long Beach). Amazing door prizes, police and firefighters, Zumba demos and even a dunk tank featuring our own Sue Baker, were enjoyed by all at the 2nd annual ECE carnival this year!
After School Kids Time Travelling?
Students in ourASES Expanded Learning Programsparticipated in the educational program, “Long Ago in Long Beach” where they learned about the history of Rancho Los Cerritos. The program, hosted by the Rancho Los Cerritos Historic Site, included five highly engaging, content-rich workshops with a goal to connect students to the cultural resources in their community and help students understand the relevance of the past to the contemporary society in which they live. Students also had the opportunity to participate in a field trip where they visited the Rancho and received a tour of the house by costumed docents, learned how clothes were washed during the late 1800’s, and learned how houses were built using adobe. This was a great opportunity for our students to expand their horizons!
