Protecting the REALTOR Brand

Use of the term REALTOR identifies a real estate licensee as a member of the three tiered REALTOR family. In the case of most Suburban West members that means membership in the Suburban West, Pennsylvania and National Association of REALTORS. The term REALTOR is a registered trademark owned by the National Association of REALTORS. Its use is carefully monitored to ensure its use does not become generic or synonymous with a real estate licensee. Review this FAQ on the subject before beginning efforts to use the term REALTOR in your marketing and promotion efforts. Improper use may result in a cease and desist order from NAR. Such an order could result in lost marketing and promotion revenue.

Real Estate Investing: Build Wealth Representing Investors or Become One Yourself!

As a source for obtaining clients, investors look to real estate professionals with distinct knowledge and expertise: a nose for finding properties, an understanding of available finance and investment strategies, access to contractors for repairs, and the ability to manage properties.

Next week the Association of REALTORS School will hold the one-day class Real Estate Investing: Build Wealth Representing Investors or Become One Yourself! (October 26th; 9:00am-5:00pm) to help students better understand what it takes to represent investors in the brokerage of single-family homes, condos, townhouses, and/or small multifamily properties and help these clients reach their investment goals. The class will also examine how real estate professionals can invest in residential property and build wealth for the long term. Click here to register (once logged in, scroll over "Events" then click on "Upcoming Classes".)

Lower Merion to Release Complete Draft of Zoning Code

Lower Merion began the process of creating a new set of zoning codes almost two years ago, and on October 24th, the new draft code will be released in township libraries and on the township website.
Chris Leswing, director of building and planning for Lower Merion, outlined the schedule of the release of the code, as well as the meetings involved over the next 10 months before the code is slated for adoption in July 2019. According to Leswing, the new draft code will be a completely new set of codes with a fresh format. The new code reflects the comprehensive plan and will include charts and drawings alongside the traditional text. Read more.
