Just one week left in this year’s Freezer Challenge! Johns Hopkins University is proud to participate in the 2026 International Laboratory Freezer Challenge, a global competition that helps labs save energy, improve sample management, and cut costs. Over the past eight years, participants have saved more than 108.1 million kWh of energy, the equivalent of powering 15,135 homes for an entire year! Learn more on the OCS Green Labs page.

Hopkins Dining Sustainability Manager Publishes on Purpose-Driven Procurement |

The Spring 2026 edition of Campus Dining Today, the magazine of the National Associations for College and University Food Service, featured a piece written by Graham Browning, Sustainability Manager for Hopkins Dining. The article, “Purpose-Driven Procurement: Hopkins Dining Champions Local and Sustainable Food Systems,” discusses the university’s efforts to focus on seasonal produce, support regional agriculture through partnerships with nonprofit food distributor The Common Market and local farms, and work build a sustainable procurement system, all while providing great food across campus.

Bringing More Local Food to Campus: Introducing the Flying Plow CSA Program |
Hopkins Dining is rolling out a new way to bring fresh, local food directly to campus. Starting this month, the Hopkins Dining is teaming up with Flying Plow Farm, a local organic grower, to host a weekly CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) pickup at Charles Street Market. Each week, subscribers can pick up a box of seasonal produce, making it easier than ever to connect with our local food system.

Farmers Markets Continue on Homewood and East Baltimore Campuses |
|
|
|
|
The Homewood Campus Farm Stand, with Hopkins Dining and Richfield Farm, will have two more monthly events this summer, on Tuesday, July 21 and August 11, from 11 AM to 2 PM in Levering Courtyard.
East Baltimore's Johns Hopkins Hospital (JHH) Farmers Market runs through October 29! Stop by Jefferson Pathway on Thursdays from 10 AM to 2 PM to enjoy fresh produce and other healthy eating options. The market is sponsored by JHH Food and Culinary Services; please email foodandculinaryservices@jhmi.edu with any questions.
