Portland Airport Fire and Rescue's Garrett Bancroft (he/him), Dylan Congrove (he/him), Matt Dull (he/him), Justin Heidmann (he/him), Matthew Pixley (he/him) and Preston Scott (he/him) were nominated for their lifesaving efforts by George, a PDX traveler:
"I had the unfortunate experience of collapsing from a heart attack while at PDX. I called 9-1-1 and members of your PDX emergency response team came to my aid immediately.
Their care, kindness and preparedness undoubtedly saved my life. I write this to ask you to share my deepest appreciation for their efforts and note the great team you have. If it had to happen, it happened at the right time with the right people there to help me. You can be proud of the services you offer to this community. A heartfelt thank you to all."

Share Your Thoughts on TriMet Service to PDX

If you currently use or would like to use TriMet to get to work, we hope you'll take a few moments to complete a short survey about potential future bus service at PDX.
Survey participants will be entered into a raffle drawing for a chance to win a TriMet Hop card or a family pass to the Oregon Zoo.
Public agencies are working together to improve bus service on 82nd Avenue. This project will replace the existing Line 72 on 82nd Avenue with TriMet FX™ – the agency’s new Frequent Express bus service. FX will bring new stations and faster, more reliable transit service between Clackamas Town Center and a turnaround point north of Sandy Boulevard.
We want your feedback on your transportation needs by Thursday, Jan. 18. Please complete this brief survey to help us better understand how you get to and from work, typical shift hours and employee demand for transit. Thank you for sharing your thoughts!

Plan Extra Time as TriMet Red Line Switches to Shuttle Buses
Starting this Sunday, Jan. 14, though Sunday, Feb. 25, if you use TriMet's MAX Red Line to get to and from the airport, plan for extra travel time due to a temporary closure.
For trips to PDX, board a MAX Blue Line train, then take a shuttle bus to the Gateway Transit Center. At Gateway, exit and transfer to a shuttle bus to the airport. These shuttle buses will depart every 15 minutes.
In Fall 2024, you can look forward to more reliable service to and from PDX with a second rail track, a completely remodeled PDX platform and plaza area, a new pedestrian-bicycle path that parallels the light rail tracks and ultimately continues to the 82nd/Air Cargo Road intersection at the PDX Travel Center, and 10 more Red Line stations in Beaverton and Hillsboro. Take a moment to sign up for service alerts and get information about disruptions and delays delivered by text message and e-mail.

Be Knowledgeable:
Blue Lightning Initiative
January is National Human Trafficking Prevention Month, dedicated to raising awareness about human trafficking and educating the public about how to identify and prevent this crime.
This month, we're launching an ongoing partnership with the Blue Lightning Initiative (BLI) – a program led by the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Transportation – to help train PDX and Port of Portland employees to identify potential traffickers and human trafficking victims, and to report their suspicions to federal law enforcement.
Look for information on our employee and public-facing monitors, and on Thursday, Jan. 11, we’ll host three employee-focused events to drive additional awareness of the campaign.
Want to learn more and be entered to win $100? Head to the PDX People website to watch a 25-minute video on common indicators of trafficking that airport employees may encounter, and how to immediately report suspected trafficking to law enforcement. Once you've watched the training, you can enter to win a $100 gift card for helping keep PDX safe and secure (open through Wednesday, Jan. 31).

Project engineer marking areas on the taxiway.
PDX in Pictures
Potholes on the road are never ideal, especially when you're on the runways of PDX. So how do we keep it smooth sailing? (Well, it's planes so they're flying, but bear with us...)
One of the first steps involves Matthew, a project engineer, marking areas on the taxiway where we'll take asphalt samples. Those samples will be used as we prep for a major repaving project. And that will lead to less bumps in the road.
Thanks to Brian Burk with the Port of Portland for the photo.
