SMPA PRODUCTION FUN
The SMPA Production Team is redesigning the Friday Fun Workshops. In the meantime, we want to keep the positive learning energy by engaging you with “Break-Out” sessions for continual learning of the Panasonic CX 350 4K camera and Adobe Premiere editing.
What does this mean? Schedule an informal one-on-one (or a group of three individuals) session with one of the SMPA Production Team members during business hours Tuesday, 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. and Thursday, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. For the Panasonic CX 350 4K video camera, contact Doug Zimmerman at dzimmerman@gwu.edu. For any Adobe Premiere editing questions, contact Tomi Ogunjulugbe at tomi@gwu.edu.
Also, we have a student edit lab assistant, Jennifer, scheduled to help you with Premiere editing. Her editing lab hours are posted on the doors of SMPA 510 and 525a. We are very excited about continuing to assist you achieve success in your future academic assignments, internships, careers, and pure knowledge!

APPLY FOR THE MANHEIM-STERLING UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH PRIZE
The Manheim-Sterling Undergraduate Research Prize is designed to support and encourage outstanding mentored undergraduate research and creative work. SMPA awards two prizes each academic year, one for each major. The 2018-19 Manheim-Sterling Prize Recipients were Grant Sobetski and Jack Nassetta. The application deadline is Tuesday, October 15 at 11:59 p.m.

Passionate about environmental journalism? Interested in studying abroad in Belize for spring break? Join Dr. Imani M. Cheers for her trip and learn about digital storytelling, ocean conservation, coastal erosion, service learning and Garifuna/Mayan culture.

Peter Loge led a discussion of ethics in advocacy at ComNet19 in Austin, TX. Loge was also quoted by the New York Post in the article “Bernie Sanders in hospital for heart issue, taking break from campaign.’’
Frank Sesno spoke to CNN’s “Smerconish’’ about the House impeachment inquiry. Sesno was also quoted in the Variety article “Impeachment Inquiry Sends TV News Networks Into Media Scramble."
Cheryl W. Thompson shared advice on how to master tough interviews at the 2019 Global Investigative Journalism Conference. Thompson was also featured in an episode on the Investigation Discovery channel called the “Coffee Shop Killer.”
Silvio Waisbord gave the talk "Post-disciplinarity and public scholarship in communication studies" at the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Southern California."
