Even if you were directly enrolled at another university, your enrollment is also no longer considered Tufts University-supported travel. As a result, no student will be covered under the Tufts International SOS Coverage and International Travel Medical Insurance as of March 27th.
If you are provided with a remote option for completing your course of study, given these exceptional circumstances Tufts will accept transfer of credits for grades C- or better, and you will still receive your residency requirement. You will not receive transfer of credit if you remain abroad.
Please contact Tufts Global Education Program Manager, Scott Langevin, at scott.langevin@tufts.edu with any questions and please email your Advising Dean regarding any academic planning questions.
Students should register travel with the Tufts Travel Registry so that they receive pertinent alerts while traveling. Should a student be affected, we will work with them individually to address their situation.
Key Contacts
Please remember, if you should depart from an area that has significant COVID-19 cases at the time of your departure, you will need to self-isolate in the U.S or your home country. Until you are symptom-free for at least 14 days from the day you leave such an area, you should not be in close contact with others. You should not return to the Medford campus as Tufts suspended all classes and on-campus activities on Friday, March 13.
We know that this may cause students stress and anxiety. Remember that you may contact International SOS for telephone counseling and mental health services at +1-215-942-8478.
Thank you for your patience and we understand this is very disappointing. We are truly sorry that your study abroad experience has ended this way. The safety and well-being of our students is our primary concern.
Sincerely,
Mala Ghosh
