SGA Celebrates in Maine
The Senior Golfers have been visiting the great state of Maine since 1986, and have enjoying playing golf and feasting on lobster in various picturesque resort towns in the Pine Tree State. The group was happy to try a brand-new location, the charming town of Bar Harbor.
The event opened with a fun Lobster Bake in the beautiful outdoor garden at the Inn on Mt. Desert. It was an honor to welcome newcomers Kim & Steve Comstock, Jenny Fletcher, Chris Grant, Cyndi Fulton, and Carol Ogg, who traveled to Bar Harbor from Georgia and Texas. SGA Hall of Fame member Jeff Leech was recognized. Everyone enjoyed excellent fresh lobster, clams, chowder, corn on the cob, blueberry cake, and a lovely evening together.

The event closed out with a beautiful  "Lobster Mac" dinner on the Inn's patio.  Event winners at gross were newcomer Carol Ogg for the ladies and her fellow Atlantan Bob Leech for the men. Carol entertained the group with a lively golf joke, much to the delight of everyone but especially SGA Hall of Fame member Jeff Leech.
Jeff's first cousin, Bob Leech, remarked, "It has been great for Nita and me to be in the cool weather up here in Maine. This was a fun event, and it's always a treat to be with my cousin Jeff and his partner Sue. I enjoyed my fellow players, and hope to be back together with you on another trip soon."
Low Net winners were Cyndi Fulton and Linton Moyer.  Runners-up were Sue Arnold and Bob Fairchild. Close to pin winners were Bob Fairchild, Bob Leech, & Carol Ogg. SGA Best Ball Team winners were Sue Arnold, Chris Grant, and Nita Leech, and Bob Leech, Jeff Leech, and Linton Moyer.  In the fun after-golf putting contest, winners were Bob Fairchild, Catherine Powell, Kim Comstock, Linton Moyer, Sue Arnold and Steve Chernock. Congratulations to all!
Acadia National Park
Located right along the Kebo Valley Golf Course, Acadia National Park preserves around half of Mount Desert Island and portions of 16 smaller outlying islands. The park contains the tallest mountain on the Atlantic Coast of the United States, Cadillac Mountain, exposed granite domes, glacial erratics, U-shaped valleys, and cobble beaches. Its mountains, lakes, streams, wetlands, forests, meadows, and coastlines contribute to a diversity of plants and animals. Weaved into this landscape is a historic carriage road system financed by John D. Rockefeller Jr.
SGA FoGs Sue Chernock, Peggy Fortier, and Carol Moyer enjoyed a guided tour of the park, seeing the highlights and learning about the extensive history of the park.  FoGs and golfers alike walked from the Inn to the Abbe Museum in Bar Harbor, the only Smithsonian affiliate in the state, where they enjoyed exhibits and information about the native people of Acadia and Maine, the Wabanaki Nations.
