Happy Monday and—welcome to Spring! I hope that, between the rain and the NCAA tournaments that you’re feeling the season in earnest…and looking forward to seeing the March Madness coverage provided by our very own Pirates in the Field, who are headed to Newark for the regional this week, and afterwards to San Antonio to the Final Four!
There is certainly a lot of energy around campus with events and activities around the University. On Friday, for example, I was excited to be among the CHDCM faculty and students welcoming our admitted undergraduate students for Pirate Preview—and though we have lots going on this week (such as the public celebration of our new basketball practice facility), I’m already looking forward to the events of Graduate Student Appreciation Week from March 31-April 4! We also just learned that our very own WSOU 89.5FM was just recognized by the Princeton Review as one of the top 25 college radio stations in the country….kudos and ROCK ON to the students and staff of our amazing WSOU!
As crazy as it sounds, we’re rapidly approaching the end of the academic year, since we’re already thinking about fall classes, finals, and commencement…and I look forward to celebrating all of these annual milestones with you all in the weeks to come. But even as we peek ahead, we still have successes to celebrate, upcoming events to promote, and lots of other good news to share. So: read on and enjoy! As always, also keep your good news and event notes coming, and I wish you all a great first full week of Spring…

The Council produces student-led projects throughout the year and builds a sense of community between actors and crew alike. Membership is based upon attendance of general council meetings, held on the first Monday of every month, as well as tech involvements. Recently, for two nights, 5 shows written and directed by student creatives were performed as part of the Lizzie McCole One Act Festival. Take a look at production photos here.
